Student loan policies keep people from being able to move forward in life and launch business. Loans with ballooning payments drag down these that are at a point in life when finances are already challenging enough. Please help make sure people are protected from abusive lending practices. -

I went to college to better myself and my family. I took loans because I had to. I fully intended to pay back what I owe. However, I was unaware that I would be paying a couple hundred grand more due to fees and interest!! I work with children on the Autism Spectrum. I make payments every month and yet my balance continues to rise!!! If you really want to make America great again this student loan crisis would be a good start. The predatory nature of lenders is completely unconstitutional.REPORT COMMENTS

Please help the little guy. Bankruptcy shouldn't be just for the wealthy. Student loan debt is a real problem in this country. Many people are struggling just to get by. If you really want to leave a legacy, then please return the standard bankruptcy protection to student loans. If you want to be among the great presidents, you can just eliminate student loan debt, then work with the department of education and these predatory lenders to establish real guidelines.REPORT COMMENTS

The peoples Congress broke the law when they stripped bankruptcy protections from student loans. Do the right thing and return these protections so millions can lead normal decent lives and have the same rights as every other debtor in America.REPORT COMMENTS

Education, be it trades or academic, is a critical, long-term investment in our democracy. In support of that investment, financial assistance for less fortunate but able students attending effective institutions of higher learning should be made available without the threat of a life-long financial burden to the student.REPORT COMMENTS

Just like the millions of people who are unemployed but do not show up in our statistics, the number of people who were prevented from contributing to society in a way that benefits us all will go uncounted, unless and until people start to come out of the woodwork. The constitutional right to bankruptcy is an American Ideal. Stripping that away has enabled government glut, protected financial institutions from the burden of responsible lending and set up generations of our citizens to irretrievably screw up their lives - to the point where it's now altering the lives of the grandchildren of student loan borrowers.REPORT COMMENTS

School lenders can't continue to have a free reign. They give loans of outrageous amounts to students who can't repay them because they know the student can never escape the loan. So they just add more penalties and interest on already inflated loans.REPORT COMMENTS
