I personally know a young vet who committed suicide and the proposed help is needed and long overdue! I am also a mental health therapist and would like to add that vets need to have specifically trained counselors to get the type of help they need, not just a general therapist will do. the VA has been recruiting therapist and many do not get the training they need to help these great vets.Jun 27th, 2011Someone from Ormond Beach, FL signed.

The ironic thing about each of us reaching out now is that this disorder has been ruining soldiers' and their families' lives for the more than the last 100 years. Only recently have I read historical information on soldiers from previous wars sufferings. Let's continue to let this sad and serious situation stand out - out in front of the politicians and the public as frequently as we can - at home, at work, in large, and small groups, in writing, in print, and on the web.REPORT COMMENTS

My son committed suicide May 27th, 2011. With 2 tours of Iraq, a Purple Heart and Army Commendation Medal he thought if he could survive Iraq twice he could survive anything. He had an appt with the VA made in April for an appt in October. PTSD cannot wait 6 months. Please help our vets. They had our back now lets have theirs as Americans. He was my only child and I miss him everyday.REPORT COMMENTS

In the event of each war and the present war that we have been engaged in for several years now, we have asked our citizens to join the fight and lay their lives on the line for our countries safety and freedom yet when the time comes to help these same men and women who have served our country we are turning our back on them. My question to you is that what would you have done if they had refused to help our country? Would you have called them names such as traitor or deserter? So should we call the leaders of the United States traitors or deserters because they are turning a blind eye on PTSD?REPORT COMMENTS
