Kentucky grew hemp in the past. Medical marijuana and hemp will be good for Kentuckians.

This is about Science, health and welfare, not about politics, personal choices. This can be mandated, this does manage pain in patients and reduce their dependency on prescribed expensive medications that actually are highly addictive and only serve to increase the pockets, stock of pharmaceutical companies. This is GOD-GIVEN, it has both negative&positives, much like all other species in botany and should be approached responsibly and cautiously as with most natural herbs are. Let adults make adult decisions as they do with other medications.

My mother suffers from RA and this would be a true blessing for her. She can't take pain pills because they irritate her stomach. Why should she suffer because of an antiquated law which serves no purpose?

A safe, natural alternative to harmful and addictive pharmaceuticals should be available. The agricultural community (most of Kentucky's population) would benefit as well. Kentucky is a very poor state compared to the rest of America. Stand up and do what's right.

As the author of this Bill has stated, the Gatewood Galbraith Medical Marijuana Act is not about being a conservative or liberal issue, rather it about compassion. Also, health care should be based on science and compassion, leaving it between patients and their health care providers, not the government. I understand greatly the concern for driving while impaired and am 110% against driving under the influence of ANY psychoactive and mind-altering substance, regardless of medical necessity, recreational use, substance abuse, introverted psychological exploration, etc. I have personally lost loved ones as a result of impaired driving and understand the consequences of such irresponsible actions. With that said, I would appreciate the consideration of the following: Many legitimate medical users of cannabis, as responsible adults, will practice medicating with cannabis responsibly, while some others will not. Just as the case with such legal pharmaceuticals, such as alprazolam (Xanax), diazepam (Valium), opiate painkillers (hydrocodone, oxycodone, OxyContin, Demerol, morphine, Vicodin, Lortab, etc.), stimulants (Adderall, DesOxyn, Ritalin), and so forth. Many of these substances, which provide medicated relief to many patients, treat the same conditions as medical cannabis, can easily be abused and pose serious risk to the welfare of the public when consumed before operating a motor vehicle, whether consumed for medical necessity or not. Is the risk/benefit ratio of making the roadways safer by making those substances illegal worth taking the relief of suffering (physical or psychological) via their medication away from legitimate patients? Absolutely not, as that would not only be absurd and acting out of malignity, but ludicrous as well. On this aspect, I could go on. As for the Kentucky State Police's concern for deciphering between criminal and medical use, that is understandable, but that could be alleviated, whether fully or to a large extent, by documentation of the necessity, just as one presents a government I.D. to law enforcement upon reasonable request. Also, many responsible medical patients will not be partaking in their medicating in public, as use is not made 100% legal. I should also state, that despite being one semester away from graduating college with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice with plans to enter the field after graduation, I believe that the compassion of relief for medical patients should trump law enforcement's concern for criminality by non-medical users.

Would much rather see someone smoke and drive as to drink and drive. Alot of uses for marijuana that can be beneficial to people who suffer from different conditions.

I have been diagnosed with glaucoma, and I would like to keep my eyesight for as long as possible by being able to keep the pressure lower in my eyes by smoking marijuana !! This drug is the safest drug ever !! There are 0 deaths attributed to pot, but there are so very many by meds that drug companies push on us that it is a miracle how many of them get on the market to begin with !!! Lethal drugs that are legal, should be pulled from the market, and never be allowed to be prescribed unless there is no other drug to help the person who gets it !! Marijuana was, is and always has been a drug that was banned on a racist principal, and not on scientific data that says it is a harmful drug, and current data suggests the total opposite, that it cures cancer, aids in remission of cancer, allows cancer patients to be able to eat, keeps pressure down in the eyes in the case of glaucoma such as mine, and helps a wide range of mental disorders by calming the patient !!! There is absolutely no truth to pot being addictive, or being a gateway drug, or causing death as has been said by uninformed person in the government who should be by all rights be removed from their positiions of authority concerning this matter because of their lack of truthfulness and or education on this matter !!!! I suggest every citizen in every state vote out all of those who are against its legalization as soon as possible !!! SEND A CLEAR MESSAGE TO THE WHITEHOUSE AND TO CONGRESS WHO HAS PERPETUATED THE LIES ABOUT MARIJUANA FOR DECADES, AS WELL AS NOW !!! GET THEM OUT OF OFFICE NOW !!!
