I want to see the punishment fit the crime when it comes to animal abuse. We need to stop the torture that animals are suffering and dying from. There seems to be more and more horrific atrocities happening on a daily basis. When idividuals are allowed to "get away with" a slap on the wrist and minimal fees and jail time, we are telling them that it is alright to continue the abuse. I will be honest I have 3 dogs that have so much love and life in them and when I think and see what is going on out there in the world I get angry not because of the crimes going on but angry that I am human and I have to associated with a species that is to stubborn to see that what they are doing is wrong and I follow one rule greatly and that is Hammurabi's rule an Eye for an Eye as in if someone hurts/abuses an animal they should have the same thing done to them. Like what I saw on YouTube hope for paws I saw a dog with a leg cut off and thrown 30 feet and everytime I see that video I want to help dogs around the world but punish the owners for if they cut a leg of they loose a leg if you understand what I am saying they have more rights than humans for they were on earth before us so why do we have the right to break into their land and destroy their homes and abuse them if we wouldn't do it to our own kind I mean excuse me if I am wrong but if we are going my land ownership then they own everything and we should be serving them not them serving us.REPORT COMMENTS

I have had pets since I can remember. I am more passionate about laws reguarding dogs and the abuse some suffer and their owners getting nothing less than a slap on the wrist. Its disgusting how there are very few consequences for someone who could abuse a dog or any animal. I have worked at a veterinary clinic where is saw very disturbing dog owners who had the dogs for the wrong reasons often being trained to be fight dogs. It was easy to pick them out and the vets would report them but nothing ever happened. I see people posting pictures on Facebook of a dog in a trailer hitch on the back of a truck standing on the cage on the highway. He was on top on the OUTSIDE. Nothing happened to the owner when he was reported apparently. I see posts that make me physically ill. This won't stop until people have severe consequences and or are not allowed to have a pet EVER again. Dogs are loving loyal pets and it cannot ok for them to be treated so bad by the ones who do. We need to stand kind of them since they cannot stand up for themselves or any animal being mistreated or abused. I love my dogs like they are my children and it hurts my heart to know some suffer when we can do something to help them. Please change the laws and make the laws stricter with harder penalties. The fact that a professional athlete gets a simple slap on the wrist with house arrest is not enough for what he did to the dogs he fought. He electrocuted and hung many that lost fights yet he is still allowed to play in the NFL. For heinous crimes it is in my opinion you have the same done to you that you did to them.You should be held responsible for your actions if not then you should be put in jail and when or if you get out never be allowed to own another animal. People post photos of the abuse they have done to animals online yet nothing is done about it! A petition needs to be signed to get anyone to do something about it? Where are laws to protect these creatures who have no voice? Not just for our pets but for all animals! Fines mean nothing. Animal cruelty and abuse needs to stop, this problem is growing and crimes are becoming more and more brutal. The punishment for animal abuse needs to be much more harsher and bonds set higher. These individuals should never be allowed to own a pet, and should be checked on periodically to make sure they do not. I've done my research on punishments for animal abuse for each state. Alabama is the harshest, up to 10 years imprisonment for torturing an animal. Any person who is capable of the abuse of an innocent animal like a puppy for instance would have no issue hurting people as well. In my opinion we do not need people like this in a civilized society which is what we claim to be? The law honestly HAS to be changed to harsher laws to actually see a decrease. I agree. I hope it happens. These laws must be more strict. Hurting an animal is like hurting a child. Animals trust in us as so do children for pretection. If we humans cannot take care of them then we should seek programs that help them find a safe loving home. Animals are regarded as insignificant because they cannot speak. But the pain caused by animal abusers is absolutely disgusting in inhuman. We need to set example with stricter laws and harsher punishments. We need more non profit organizations to save & care for these victimized animals. But need help from more fortunate people who can afford to donate or give their service. I would be more than willing to start an organization with/without other people to help stop cruelty to homeless animals; or people who abuse their own pets.
