Please end this practice! This is nothing more than discrimination. If we can't do it with children than it shouldn't be allowed with pets. Penalize irresponsible owners NOT responsible ones! What has the pit bull breed done to humans that any other breed has not done. Yet they are not banned! I am proud of my pitties and trust my my life and my families life with them. They bring us joy, comfort and love! They are our family. How can anyone want to deny someone the love this breed can give. There is no modern scientific evidence that backs a single reasonable argument for any of these breed restrictions. It is all based on hearsay and rumor. Bad behaviours of any pet, is based solely on the individual animal and their owner for failing to discipline them. These outrageous laws make it incredibly difficult for young professionals to find affordable housing, including myself. I am a college graduate, currently serving in the NY Army National Guard, while maintaining a full time job as an IT professional working under a DoD/DHS contractor. Even with my clean record I am left with the options of living in crime ridden neighborhoods because of the well disciplined and well behaved pitbull I own. Intelligent, responsible, law abiding, and hard working citizens should not be targeted and ridiculed for their preference of dog breed. So I ask firmly, from a kind heart, that you strike down this bill and any others like it. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.REPORT COMMENTS

Completely ridiculous! The animal should not be punished or banned! The people who perpetuate the stereotype of these "so called" vicious animals should be the ones punished and/or banned! How about creating laws for idiots?! When you get a dog and you do not take care of it, you go to jail! When you breed animals just to make a living , you go to jail! When you get a dog and it's bites someone because you are irresponsible, you go to jail! I'm appalled at the people who think to create and implement such laws. As human beings we all know who is really at fault here and that is us!!!! These animals are really victims who are at the mercy of human beings. All they do is love us whether we abuse them or not. We all need to look in the mirror and be accountable instead of blaming theses poor innocent animals!!!REPORT COMMENTS

The petition letter says everything that I could. Every couple years or decades people pick a different breed to target and it has proven ineffective. Only people that have never been around pit bulls hate them. In Florida all of the gang bangers had them to try to look tough. But any dog can be dangerous if not properly raised and socialized. Police dogs bite more people, yet no one talks about when they attack their handler or other people unprovoked. My pit bull has been around tons of people of all races, ages, and disabilities. Ive known smaller dogs that will bite when you get too close when it has bone or when frightened. End the idiocracy. Even cops are using pit bulls to replace other dogs. Pit bulls are an working breed that have been used as service animals, search and rescue and other roles. There is so much misinformation its a wonder how some people even get dressed in the morning. These retarded laws are proof that our law creating bodies should not be making uneducated decisions. There is no reason to be ignorant when creating laws. We have too many laws as it is.
