We ALL need to take care of our children; not our cheating ex-wives who planned the divorce in the first place. Support based on GROSS income makes no sense; especially since we need to supply food and clothing for them as well! In NY State it goes until 21- so of course momma which have incentive for junior to stay as long as he wants. I WANT IN! Dead beat dads are A holes make us all look bad but sometime the "system" makes one appear to be dead beat. ENOUGH!!! When is the march? What members of congress will jump on this? -

I an a single father that has a ridiculous child support for a Deceased daughter, that I had partial custody of, and for the last 12yrs. Haven't got a penny from the mother of the 2 that I have custody of. While I'm paying, my bank acct.seize, health acct., seized, my family has been forced into poverty by the state of N.Y., child sport needs a definate reform. These laws were put in place in 1975, and haven't been revisited. The economy, cost of living, and life in general changes circumstances. Too many men won't seek employment because of the financial burden and embarrassment, and I don't Mean the dead beats, the laws shouldn't further strain relationships of fathers who want too do but can't, the embarrassment of holidays and birthdays when your just can't afford to buy simple gifts, our get paid and can't even take a pizza home or do special events, let real men be fathers, and not cart the burden of the welfare system in their backs for those that don't complyREPORT COMMENTS

We should organize a 1,000,000 Man march on Washington. I'm up for that, are you guys in? Blogs and petitions are a great start but lets face it. NOBODY knows about us but us. "We are invisible". Child Support Collections is a multi-billion dollar a year business. It has nothing to do with "the best interest of the child". If you don't believe me, look up the "legal" definition of "best interest of the child". Do you really think your congressman cares if you write him/her? Don't you want people to know there's a difference between being a "deadbeat" and "deadbroke". I don't know the logistics on how to make something like this happen but I'm in. I'm a Veteran and I'm tired of being treated like an ATM by these money grubbers! I really wanted to say something else but, money grubbers will do.REPORT COMMENTS

They went to my son's job and STOLE his truck. He is in arrears $2500 which he has been paying toward for a long time along with his regular payments. He has custody of his other 2 children. How do they expect him to work to support them? I truly believe this was a TOTALLY ILLEGAL seizure by Child support collection in Buffalo. Not to mention, they didn't give him any warning or anything. The guy told him "we sent you a notice in 2006 and we're backlogged".REPORT COMMENTS

AGREE! Unfair practices need changed! Child support in NYS is severely disproportionate and needs changed! Personal experience with my significant other he pays out more than half of his paychecks. He makes 65000 per year, brings home 18000 and pays his ex-wife 27000 before taxes. Not to mention 65% for childcare, 65% for healthcare and 65% for any other additional fees. NYS is out of control and treats their fathers ridiculously. I divorced in VA and recieve less than 1/4 of what he pays. I am not sure what NYS's goal is.... but all I see coming from this system are charges for fathers that cant pay, increase of innocent men in jail, fathers that are forced to give up their children purely bc they cant afford it. NYS seems to want their single fathers to live in homeless shelters and take the bus to work. Which is totally off par bc the state wants their fathers to provide a proper home to be able to see their kids. Does NOT make sense!! Sorry NYS but your laws need to be redone when it comes to the calculations of child support that you seem to think are fair. Especially in a case where there was a cheating mother that ended the marriage, or a mother that had nothing to do with their kids til they were 3. Its an outrage. I was raised by a single father and would have had it no other way.REPORT COMMENTS

I also think that any adult living in the household with the custodial parent whether it be a husband, parent(s), friend, boarder, tenant etc. should be considered as contributing monies to that household. Child support should be adjusted accordingly.REPORT COMMENTS
