I am a 37 year old black male who was sent to prison at the age of seventeen upon which time a year later I received a letter saying that I was a father of a child. I in my juvenile mind signed papers delivered by a sheriff, that the child was mine. 13 yess later I am released finding meaningful work impossible. I married had more 4 more children of which I have been providing care for for ove 10 years. I now have my listen every suspended for the one child I fell delinquent for whom is grown now. And my young children suffer because I cannot get back and forth to work with no liscence. Thank tou any advice is greatly welcomed. -

I understand what you guys are saying the only reason my child's father is on child support is because I knew he wasn't going to help take care of his child, which he still hasn't an he gets enough to help an I say a lil bit helps an he is behind over 40 something thousand, but for the ones that are taking care of business I think there needs to be some kind of monitoring going on if they are paying I don't think they should be put on child support an taking care of there responsibilities it's not fair to then at all.REPORT COMMENTS

Child support is unfair and bias, its robbery. Parents should pay half of agreed purchases, healthcare and any other expenses for the child's well being. I guarantee people would stop having random trap kids if they knew they wasnt getting a free $1,000 a month from us hard workers; just to spend 80 on clothes, 100 on food 300 on the boyfriend, 200 on bills and the rest on going out! Just not fair to a dad working 70 hours a week and cant get a break or afford a day off to even spend time with the child.REPORT COMMENTS

Im actually in that current state. I live in an area where the closet bus is over 3 miles away and only runs every hour from the hours of 10-3.. a normal drive time of 15 going to town takes 1-2 hours on bus. Have paid over 1243$ in the pass 3 months to Dept of Revenue- after my last 200 payment I get a letter there going suspend my driver license. I been looking for work, send them proof of applications now I get a letter in the may a month after my driver license- that there going suspend my Professional license. which is funny because I went down to the local Dept of Rev officer- they didnt even have in there records my payments - lucky for me I had proof with me for any payment I make- but regardless the process is still on going I have to file a petition to stop my Professional license from being suspend after my driver license got suspend.. but seriously what the heck like does the state rather me be in jail or pay them.. It feels like they rather put me in jail.. messed up thing is my last court date the judge and DOR rep told me if I can send full payment send partial payment its better then no payment - yet they still suspend my stuffREPORT COMMENTS

I'm constantly having to go through this. Sad part is, they used to give warning, now they just call right before suspending it, so when you finally talk to somebody, they tell you they're submitting an order to RELEASE the license FROM suspension! I work a seasonal-job at a county-coordinated traveling homeless shelter... it runs for 8 months and then closes down for four months during the summer. What's mind-boggling is, I'm in California, and with the longest coastline in the US, with all their longshoremen, teachers, etc... you'd think they'd have some CLUE what seasonal work is. Whether it be the food-stamps, child-support, etc... I constantly tell them, it's SEASONAL for EIGHT months... yet, they still disqualify me from food-stamps and such because they take my hourly earnings, then figure the monthly times TWELVE months. While the shelter is closed, I look for summer work... but as I've seen in the shelter, jobs aren't exactly growing on trees. I just returned back to work three weeks ago, and I'm actually in talks with a local homeless-shelter for a second job that runs year-round, so there won't be anymore gaps/delays in payment (but with a suspended license that'd be a complete no-go!)... but got a voicemail yesterday telling, "we're suspending your license for child-support" or however they worded it... they give me a number to call, I try to call it today (because I work overnights, so never got the voicemail until around 8pm), and it's constant voice-mail... I then call the help-line, explain my situation, and they said they're going to shoot a message to my worker to get my license RELEASED. Really!? Is this the new modern world? Give free-passes to illegal-citizens, tons of funding for those that want to live on the system, but those trying to make an honest living continue to get harassed, punished, put in debtor's prison -- after busting their butts to pay for everything listed prior, to then have a legal-system that can LEGALLY labeled them "deadbeat", yet there's so many tamer words out there being BANNED due to PC-culture!? Even worse, this is humiliating... I do a job, servicing the hardest hit in the community, as we're an emergency fallback shelter, so we're where people end up when there's no other vacancies or those able to help... my career is helping people to fix up their lives, debts, credit, etc... getting them housing, and back on their feet... and my thanks for doing this is no due-process in just yanking my driver's license willy-nilly whenever they feel like it!? Even worse, the county that our shelter coordinates with, the county that I report to and input homeless-data for, is the SAME county that's doing this to me!!! >:(REPORT COMMENTS

Arkansas is the worst, they change case workers every week, and dont call you back. They make your life a living hell! They suspend over a few hundred dollars, once was like 300 bucks. We are court ordered for extended visitation with reduced payment, because first 4 years her mom alienated her and wouldnt give the visitation and was found in contempt. Ocse would do anything not to give you those credits. Anyways, It does not make sense to suspend occupational license, because child support. Apparently people get behind and cant pay that crazy amount every single month. Suspending occupational license so they cant work only creates more problems and even more in debt. My step daughter mom got 4 vehicles, doesnt pay rent, goes on trips, married and all of them living with grandma in a 2 bedroom house with like 7 animals, and yet she still calls ocse every week to complain shes not getting enough. She always gets half of my tax refund from my EIC due to my son. I was out of work for a year fighting cancer and couldnt work, but still had to do some work. Yet OCSE still wants their payment every month, on top of hundreds we spent on treating her lice and daycare in the summer. Not saying my husband shouldnt be obligated, he is, but******happens. She gets tax money back for her 2 kids plus half of mine. Shes got momma taking care of the kids, no rent, no daycare expense, etc.. and apparetly got enough money to have a good time to go on trips and we are barely getting by. I just depend on husband to be able to take kids to where they need to be and pick them up and be able to work.. cant do that with a suspended license. Also maybe government need to make it that child support should be claimed as income when people are paying more than half their own income to child support, because they arent getting the credits and deductions on taxes they would be if the child was living with them and there cost of living. We wanted to get joint, but court says 55 miles and we are 5 miles over from having joint custody.REPORT COMMENTS

I've been working warehouse but with cut backs I am working as a sales clerk do you realize the difference in pay? I haven't had a license for awhile but I do whatever it takes. I lost my driver's license because I fell behind on child support because I was fighting for disability for 2 years. This isn't because I have to work it's because I'm taking care of my Father who is 73 and has heart disease with half his heart damaged from a heart attack, dementia, and type 2 diabetes. He has to go to the doctor periodacally and so do I and I can't get us there without a license. I have a rare bone disease (Polyostotic Fibrous Dysplasia) and heart disease as well. My girlfriend works weekdays so there's no way she can help and the same with family and friends. I need my driver's license please help me... I owe back pay and interest on the back pay and i owe plus interest on what i owe and i honestly will not be able to catch up no matter how many times i have it adjusted.. i have 3 others kids 17 15 and 3.. the teens live with me and they are from a previous relationship, the 3 year old is from the new relationship and being a great woman accepts me and takes my 2 teens in with me.. now because rent here in CA is super high and i need all the rooms i can get all we can afford is a 3 bed and that's already 1600 not including bills and food and gas not to mention the chapter 13 we are in due to we owe IRS and that is another chunk we pay a month and they make 100% sure we stay on a very VERY tight budget.. i choose to be the stay home father and get the kids to school and watch my youngest because with child support taking 50% of my money there is no way we can live off of that let alone afford daycare which is near rent cost now days. now they want to suspend my licence which i need to drive to get the kids to school and other events as well as get myself to doctor visits and blood work and all the other things that go with my issue.. as a past felon i will never see a career so I am use to the fact i will only have certain jobs.. and with that pay there is no way i can afford to live.. i have a lot on my plate and I am dealing with it the best i can but child support keeps throwing me deeper down the hole.. this licence suspension part should have nothing to do with child support.. I never ask you to give the grandmother welfare for my child. you gave her custody because we were to young to be parents but its ok to charge me with child support. and never answer my question as to why isn't the mother doesn't pay half of what i owe if shes out of the picture and living on her own as well.. more like im paying for the grandmothers living cause shes been using the child for support..
