Don't understand why all women with dense breast tissue are not always offered the option of whole breast ultrasound after a normal mammogram? 70% of all women that die of breast cancer have dense breast tissue. That represents about 28,000 deaths in the U.S per year! 50% of all breast cancers are missed on women with dense breast tissue with mammography alone. 100% more breast cancers are found on women with dense breast tissue when they add whole breast ultrasound to their screening mammogram. Time for all women with dense breast tissue to simply demand whole breast ultrasound to their mammogram. -

As a citizen of Connecticut, the first state in the United States to enact the "woman's right to know her breast density", I can assure you I follow up on all measures to detect breast cancer in my extremely dense breast tissue. After learning I had dense breasts after the law was passed, I can assure you I did not become a "hysterical woman", but an informed one as any woman with this issue has a right to be.REPORT COMMENTS

I think it's an OUTRAGE that the government has not made it mandatory to tell women they have DENSE breasts while get a mammogram. Additional tests needed like an ultrasound or am MRI to detect any further issues that occur with dense breast. I have fibrocyctic dense breasts & a mammogram did not tell me anything but an ULTRASOUND DID. Why hasn't anyone suggested I get this exam up until now. I had to wait till I felt many lumps! NO JUSTICE from the medical community!!!!REPORT COMMENTS

I think that it is a false and deceptive practice to tell women that they are getting sufficient diagnostic care with mammography alone when they have extremely dense breasts which prevent cancer detection by this method.REPORT COMMENTS

My wife was 36 when she got her mammogram. She was told there was no issue with the mammogram, and to come back when she was 40. Within 4 months, she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. With better info, we could have caught her cancer at stage 1 or 2. The costs now associated with her care are exponentially higher. And that does not even consider her health or life expectancy.REPORT COMMENTS

My life expectancy was impacted by my cancer not being detected at an early stage due to my dense breasts. Our sisters, daughters and families deserve better. Please make this ethical change! Please save a life!REPORT COMMENTS
