PEG fees are provided by the citizens in each community who pay for cable television. The fee guarantees each citizen in their community will have fair and equal access to a channel that will provide local government meeting coverage, local education and student activity coverage, and public access to a television station for workshops, skills training, program development, and production for the citizens in that community. This is the most important local civic tool and resource in every community throughout the country. Don't let the FCC silence every local community in the country by charging back services to reduce and remove the citizen's fees supporting these significant and vital platforms for freedom of speech and civic engagement.

PEG funding is essential to community engagement with local government and town administration, this is literally the conduit through which the public has access to their local town government operations, and elected representatives, without it you remove the primary method through which citizens can observe and monitor their elected officials

We need funding for local public access channels to cover local events, local schools and local government meetings. Without PEG stations none of this will covered on TV and usually shared on social media sites like Facebook & You Tube.

Many people rely on local cable access for information going on in their town. Please save local voices.

Dear Congressman Panetta, As the Executive Director of Access Monterey Peninsula, Monterey County's Community Media Center and PEG channel operator, I implore you to help us fight against the proposed FCC ruling which, if passed, will drastically cut our funding and threaten our 20 year existence on the peninsula. Thank you, Christine
