My daughters, 12 and 16, were abused on court ordered visits. We had a 3 year no contact domestic violence restraining order. The abusive father violated the DVRO 13 times, resulting in 5 police reports and his arrest. Then our family court judge, Daphne Sykes Scott, removed the children from the protective order and ordered them to go on unmonitored visits with their abuser. This resulted in abuse, and child abuse reports. On one visit, he physically abusedmy then 15 year old at a gas station. My teen daughter called police, who did nothing since she was not on the protective order. We went to the judge, who denied our request to add the girls back to the protective order. I filed a child abuse abuse report. The report was unsubstantiated due to no bruises and the abusers denial of the incident. I had the mindset of a refugee. We fled domestic abuse. The abuser was told by a trusted family member where we were. The abuser gave our contact information to the family court judge who rewarded the narcisistic abuser with full custody of the children he repeatedly said he never wanted. A warrant was issued for my arrest and extradition back to Orange County, California. I did 3 months in Allegheny Co Prison before being extradited to Orange Co Jail and being bailed out. I am now convicted of a misdemeanor and am on 3 years probation, which prevents me from getting a job. The abuser has custody of my sweet helpless 12 year old. After he took the children against their will, he beat up my 16 year old again. She was removed by police and CPS and is currently in foster care, living in a group home. I am only permitted one 2 hour monitored visit per week. I know I did what God wanted me to do: protect my children from abuse. I am a martyr. The NC court has given sole custody of my grandson and grand-daughter to their mother, my daughter, but despite all the evidence of sexual abuse, physical abuse, and verbal abuse from the father, step mother and her 5 children the court also gave the father unsupervised visitation on all weekends and every other week during the summer. How can this be in America! I am shocked and appalled at our courts and our social services who are suppose to be there for our children and fight to keep them safe, but instead have turned a blind eye. So, where do we go from here? I don't know but I will not, I can not stop until my grandchildren are safe and never have to go back to that horrible, hurtful environment their father calls home.REPORT COMMENTS

My grandchildren were given to their mother in 2004. Sole custody. Father and his mother went behind her back and filed abandonment since he had placed them with his mother til hearing . Then to finish school semester. Father Gordon Bark,Jr. Grandmother Debbie Bennett and Mark Bennett have physically ,emotionally and verbally abused since. Father has daughter and is very abusive. She has talked suicide. Children's Mother and myself, maternal grandmother have been banned from seeing and talking to them. Judge John Tomlinson has run roughshod over us for years.REPORT COMMENTS

I never imagined the United States courts would do such horrific things to children. The abuser has all the power. The children have no hope. It's a nightmare I can't wake up from. Judge Anthony McGinty, Judge Marianne O Mizel, and the child support is a big joke too- presently three agencies are preparing a huge investigation on the entire court and Judges and endangering of children NY PENAL LAW 260.10REPORT COMMENTS

Happening to my niece. Sister and mom were arrested for following attorney orders and waiting on a protection order. My niece was returned to her father and abuser by local law enforcement while the "inevstigation" was pending. The investigation consisted of taking my niece to the local Child advocacy center for an interview, by her father, 9 days later. My niece, knowing her mom and grandmother were in jail, couldn't remember what her dad did to her nor what she had told her paychologist. So a few months later, case closed, and family court denied her contact of any kind with her mother for 9 months, then she was allowed a weekly phone call, a couple months later she was granted a two hour visit once per week, then 13 months later, an overnight. He sought to modify and terminate her rights. My sister, despite paying another attorney and her friend 60k, was denied the trial she requested and given 10 nights a month with her daughter. Devastating. Now the teacher has called and says my niece is not doing well and recommended she be put on medication. Being in education for 12 years, I didn't know teachers were qualified or allowed to make such a recommendation. My niece is locking herself in the bathroom and can't concentrate during class nor remember anything. She has already sat through two wrong classes, forgot where to go, and there doesn't seem to be any hope in sight for her. She can't go to church with her mother anymore. Her dad's church members told her she was wrong to say those things about her dad and she sits alone in a Sunday School class each Sunday with the preacher's wife. The court ordered downloads from this guys phone would make the Subway guy look like a saint, but that was not allowed in evidence at the first trial, and subsequently sealed. The only reason I am not showing my name is because this order is being appealed. I am speaking on behalf of my niece, who has told a court appointed counselor, several CPS workers, her paychologist, two members of law enforcement, a court appointed amicus attorney, and many, many others about the abuse perpetrated by her father, to no avail. She lived solely with her mother until she was 6 1/2, except the four days per month she visited her dad, the same two weekends her half sister and half brother visited him. The abuse began after her primary residence was changed from her mother to her father by court order at a temporary hearing. How long can she survive like this? I pray until she gets the relief she desperately needs and the protection every child deserves.REPORT COMMENTS

My children were recently given to their abusive father. The judge in the matter did not care one bit that there were allegations of abuse, allowed the man to slander me with no proof what he was saying was true, would not look at communications records, photos of the abuse or let me speak in detail about the events prior to our temporary custody order (all while she allowed him to give his version). He was ordered to supervised visits with a professional and refused to use the services available. He insisted on using a family member- which was not what was agreed to. Due to this, visits were unable to take place. He gave names of people who were stunned to find he had volunteered them to supervise, basically giving me fake supervisors. The judge didn't seem to want to hear or care. In the end, I was given one hour to tell my terrified children they were being taken away.
