Common core needs to be removed from our schools. I am a college graduate who took calculus and I am having difficulty with 1st grade math. Not to mention, my child in Kindergarten is struggling and doesn't understand. This needs to be removed!! What ever happened to simple math for such young children 2 +2 = 4. Not this ridiculous counters cr** and confusing ways for children to NOT understand. Government needs to get out of our children's education!!

I can't even help my first grade son add 8+5 on his homework. I have had calc in college but can't do first grade math. This is ridiculous.

Common Core removes imagination from mathematics and dumbs it down to the lowest common denominator. Even our forefathers thought this was a bad idea.

HORRIBLE.... it shoud be called COMMON DUMB!!! No longer teaching our kids anything but to not understand how the learning process works. It expects kids to figure math out themselves! Ridiculous! Pray for this country being ruined by mindless corrupt greedy fools!

Never have I seen so much homework prescribed to KINDERGARTENERS. Common core is a ridiculous waste of time that could be spent much better. I do not support common core in any way, or any forms that "replace" it.

Math is a language that is used to describe concepts that cannot be understood by many when words are used. Common core focuses too much on "logic" when many students do not understand another person's logic! It is not working! Formulas work along with practice. Everyone must learn by practicing - not hundreds of problems in one sitting, but a few problems a day of the same to enforce a formula which then helps the brain make new connections which in turn leads to understanding the concept. This cannot be replaced by talking about it. My son was doing wonderful in math and now he cries. Learning is no longer fun. Why are you doing this to our children? You must put an end to common core and the corporatization of our schools. You are hurting our children's future.

When I have to watch videos on Youtube to help teach my child how to do their math, THAT'S A PROBLEM! I graduated in the top 5% of my class in high school, and top 1% in college. I'm not stupid. Common Core, however, IS! All it is teaching kids is how to HATE school!

School should be a place of learning and fostering the love of learning, not creating tears, frustration, and severe anxiety. I have two children that have been diagnosed with anxiety and ADHD because of their fears about school. How are we to expect our children to want to further their education post high school when their formative years are wrought with tears, frustration, and severe anxiety

Our government is supposed to be working for us, not against us. How many parents and teachers have to come forward before there is change? How many years are we going to continue to allow our children to suffer, and for what? I am still VERY unclear about what Common Core is supposed to accomplish. I love my children more than anything in this world and to see my 4, 12, and 14 year old kids coming home full of anxiety is heartbreaking. How do I encourage them to go to school when I as a parent have lost faith in the very educational system I have to send them to? I feel as if our children are being run around in circles and set up to fail. To sit through a 2 hour class and be expected to solve a math problem through tedious and time consuming means is unnecessary and mentally exhausting. It's time the government LISTEN to it's people! WE are the people and WE are the parents. WE know what's best for our children and it is NOT the Common Core!!

I don't even know where to start, but here it goes: I have a seven-year old learning CC math. When he attempts to do his homework it almost always results in extreme anxiety, followed by a huge meltdown. The 'homework' is to be completed in class. If not, he is to complete it at home. We have no book, no examples, no guidance. Furthermore, if the work is not completed that night, he misses every recess until it's done. Common Core is a nightmare, and should never have been implemented.

The common core curriculum is in no way, shape or form is expanding the thinking of our children! It's confusing them and frustrating them to the point they're hating school. If the idea of common core was to create a deficient generation in math then you've definitely succeeded!!! I am sure for those who can afford private schools this is not an issue to them, but for the average American it's a major issue. When I look at my third grade'rs homework every night and feel shocked by what's being taught, of course I'm angry! How in the world do you expect a third grade to learn 5th grade to middle school math?!! You're setting them up for failure. Teacher, students and parents are frustrated by common core for a very good reason! We all want our kids to excel in math, science, English and foreign languages but this is not the proper way to do it! Why don't you take a look at what European and Asian countries are implementing? Their curriculums make much more sense because they strengthen the basic math skills and do not allow calculators in classrooms until high school. That's how they're achieving higher potentials. It's time to stop using our children as your lab experiment and treat them like humans. Also, it's time to listen to parents and teachers, not just investors such as Bill Gates!!

I just saw some math problems being taught using common core. Are you kidding me!! Who put this type of learning in place? It makes no sense and I do not believe that young children should be doing homework for 4 + hours a night. No wonder why our children are loosing it. You really need to get rid of this it is not teaching kids anything. You should be ashamed of yourselves for even putting this into place. You people really have no clue what is best for our children!!

Common Core just adds complication and confusion to the original question and just opens the door for more mistakes to be made. There's nothing wrong with having standards that indicate what you should learn at each level. But coupling these standards with radical new methodologies may be the kiss of death that could ruin another generation of kids when it comes to math. I say this because the so called experts back in the 1960s came up with the "new math" concept that also changed the way math was taught and ruined a whole generation of kids. Just like the "new math", parents are complaining that common core math procedures are too foreign to understand. And just like the "new math", teachers find themselves teaching methods and material they don't fully understand. The classroom is no place for experimenting with unproven concepts. We are making the same mistakes made during the 1960s and It is clear to me that we have not learned the lessons from the "new math" debacle!

Wow, I always tried to teach my kids how fun math was but this common core insanity has made that totally impossible. I taught them to treat it like a puzzle and have fun with it , now I am puzzled! I am puzzled at how on earth we let this happen, this is ridiculous. We now spend hours on math problems that we (and our parents before us) could solve in just minutes! Guess what, our answers were right and we didn't use five pages of paper showing unnecessary diagrams to get our answer! Here is my example: look out the window there is three cars in a parking lot, ask johnny to tell you how many cars , he will tell you " well there is twelve tires , three starters, six windshield wipers, I think there is three....do I need to round or estimate?"..........OMG count them 1,2,3 ! There are THREE CARS! frustrating! Oh yeah, Johnny, you didn't use a five page diagram! This has to stop, this is not making our kids smarter , if anything it is setting them back! I help any way I can to put an end to this!

My kids dot want to go to school anymore. Thy used to love going to school and learn new and exciting things. Now it's hard to hear them hiw much thy dislike school. So much homework and I don't know how to do it either. This is very hard material. My sister who is college couldn't help my 8th grade daughter in science homework, and that she was just learning the material herself. Now that just Shows how hard it is. They except kids to learn this and get good grades, when they come homemade, not happy and get Very Stressed out not being able to get homework done. THIS Has GOT TO STOP NOW. Our kids are not to be tested on to see if this will work. It seems like us parents have lost our right to our kids when it comes to school. As a family we are all stressed out and frustrated.
