My son is a special need child. It was hard enough with the old standard version. About the middle of the school semester my son no longer wanted to go to school. He would hide under the bed, and would fake that he was sick just to not go to school. My son has always love to go to school. He could not wait to be around his friends. After two weeks struggling to get him out of bed. I knew something was wrong. I showed up in school announced, and I found out that the common core was being applied. I was outraged, and I let the school principle now it. I had heard about common core, but I was caught off guard that the school board did not announce that it was applying common core. Who knows how long they have been applying common core. In top they would not let me take the state test home. But when I read some of the questions on the test, I was shocked. I mean, I myself, an adult had to read the question twice, and use a lot critical thinking before figuring out the answer. I was furious that the school board would put my son health and mental stability, and not inform me. As a parents we have the right to be involve our child education. In top the school board, our the states, federal government insults parents by telling them that we cannot sue them. In common core it states that it bears no responsibility for mental illness, or harm it may cause a child. Really? So if Common Core is so good why not back it up fully. Because it s not. That's why! I state to congress how dare you violate my constitution right to be involved and being able to vote on my child education system. As a citizen I have the right to vote. You are thieves in the night. You hid in the dark of the night, to pass your evil scheme. Is that what they did with Jesus? -

It's LUDICROUS! Why does ANYONE need this "NEW" math that was thought up by some corporation to make money? STOP THE INSANITY! T Why the change? There is NOTHING wrong with the same math that I learned, my parents learned, their parents learned, and so on. PLEASE give all parents the opportunity to HELP their kids with the homework given! A SIMPLE division problem for my fourth grader last night, ( 84/3) took me 2 seconds, (Obviously, I'm older, but, even so), it took him, 5 minutes, and he STILL got it wrong....THIS IS OUR FUTURE?REPORT COMMENTS

The first study results measuring long term effectiveness of common core on math performance have just been released. The results confirm common core is not effective. There is more than one way to solve a math problem, though hat does not mean you need to splice and dice explanations into tedious oblivion.REPORT COMMENTS

While I am only a freshman inside highschool, and I have a lot to learn, I feel like the standards around the country are reteaching subjects that we know, and not teaching us life skills and future planning, foucusing on exponents, instead of carrer planning, talking about themes, when we could be talking about subjects that will help us thrive, things are not simple anymore, and it is time for change. There is a lot to learn, and only so many years. Please, let the future generations have better teaching service than I.REPORT COMMENTS

Common Core math makes learning simple addition and subtraction much harder. It should not take an entire page for a child to do a simple math problem.REPORT COMMENTS

My child is in 1st grade and to keep her from falling behind we have to do over an hour of homework every night. She is not able to enjoy her childhood because she works all day at school and then as soon as I get home we start again. She is currently learning subtraction. Her common core math was so confusing that I had to YouTube how to subtract 13-5! By the end of our homework time together we were both extremely frustrated. Who ever came up with common core is an idiot! Why are we making our children learn this way? Please eliminate common core so that our children can once again enjoy school.REPORT COMMENTS

I am a parent that learned math the old way and I can't even teach my child how to do the new math because that's not the way I was thought this is not healthy when your child comes home and we can't even bond by doing math home work because we are both getting mad at the fact that I can't teach my un child mathREPORT COMMENTS

My son is a Kindergartener. He gets word problems and he doesn't even read yet! What happened to just learning the basics the first year. He does homework for more than an hour each day and he's only 5. He is swamped with work at school and no recess or nap time. Common core needs to be stopped. He's a child, not an adult. I want him to like school. do some research; Norway and Finland are ahead of us, because they care about the child's needs. That means they have a childhood, a life. Please if you care about our future, change the way we look at education and common core isn't a part of it.REPORT COMMENTS

Common Core has to go. Our young people are frustrated as well as teachers and administrators. Our young people are not machines. They are all different. The truth being that all our young people are not all college ready and will not be. We need our youth to be hard working citizens no matter what path they take in life.REPORT COMMENTS

STOP COMMON CORE NOW!!! This method of teaching is beyond ridiculous. Teachers don't teach anymore most of them aren't even allowed to sit at desjs. They have taken nap time away from kindergarten and work them like college students. I don't understand why students are not being taught anymore how to write in cursive anymore, but society expects for us to sign our name. We have a generation that's failing more than ever before. Bring back the old method of teaching. Common core is wasting money.REPORT COMMENTS
