Our children should NEVER be exposed to such EXPLICIT LANGUAGE! This is appalling to even be CONSIDERED for teenagers. Common Core is turning out to be the DEVIL. I'm ashamed of my government!

In no way shape or form is this book appropriate in high school. Pages 162-163: ?A bolt of desire ran down his genitals?and softening the lips of his anus. . . . He wanted to f*** her?tenderly. But the tenderness would not hold. The tightness of her vagina was more than he could bear. His soul seemed to slip down his guts and fly out into her, and the gigantic thrust he made into her then provoked the only sound she made. Removing himself from her was so painful to him he cut it short and snatched his genitals out of the dry harbor of her vagina. She appeared to have fainted.?

With so many other good books to read, I don't think teens need to be REQUIRED to read a book dealing with incest and child abuse

This book is inappropriate for high schoolers (and has topics that are criminal about pedophilia) Please REMOVE it from the common core list. Our students/children should not be exposed to this book.

The authors stated intent: To have the reader feel co-conspiracy with the perpetrator. Wow. In my city this was recommended reading for 8th graders to prepare them to read To Kill A Mockingbird. Frightening.

This isn't very complicated. Morrison's book is inappropriate because eroticizes pedophilia. The author justifies this by saying she wanted to approach the subject from the perspective of the predator. However, in doing so she has created a sympathetic portrayal of an unconscionable, immoral act. That is why the book shouldn't be on high school reading lists.

This book is not age appropriate. Teenagers know about sex, but they don't have the developmental maturity to handle the content. If they want to read it at home that's different, but government needs to stop peddling this filth to our kids.

I think this book has a very distinct place in the Black History section, but not in Common Core for our kids to read in a school setting.
