My love one has done 16 years consecutively in North Carolina for nonviolent theft crimes because he had served two times before for same thing never much over 24 mos. for those times and third time received 22 years. This is absurd and makes absolutely no sense at all. He is not a threat to his community I believe he was judged on his family and his juvenile record. How does locking a person away this long for this type of crime really show any type of reform. Actually this can make a person angry and bitter toward a corrupt system. He has written 38 manuscripts and has had a book published. He has paid his price and more. He hasn't raised any of his children. They are all adults or teens now. My man does not deserve the time he is getting after paying his dues on probation, successfully completing drug treatment the first-time no relapses and restitution to his victim.
