As a graduate student, and social science researcher I depend on this funding to support the search for knowledge for policy makers and politicians draw on. This year graduate student subsidized loans were already taken away (which is mostly hard on the graduate student community-- and is something I still am quite frustrated about), but this is an even larger attack on my profession as a whole. I hope that you take the time to strongly consider the detrimental consequences of cutting funding to the NSF political science program, and work to make sure that these cuts do not occur.Jun 7th, 2012Someone from Sioux Falls, SD signed.

Social science research has value for knowledge. It can't be done without funding.REPORT COMMENTS

It is astounding that this matter even came up. A fundamental tenet of our society--of a truly democratic and prosperous society--is that decisions should be based on full and accurate understanding. Political science, like the other social sciences, is committed to developing honest, thoughtful, and science-based assessments of citizenship and government, and it should be supported!REPORT COMMENTS

Since being well informed is vital to being a good citizen, funding NSF research would be a great way for legislators to demonstrate their patriotism.REPORT COMMENTS

I find it shocking that government representatives have chosen to target one source of NSF funding. NSF has been an important source of funding for many political science projects that could not be done otherwise. These studies have increased our knowledge in a variety of areas important to politics including research on women and minority representation in government arenas. It shows a clear lack of knowledge on what exactly NSF funded political science has contributed to our knowledge of important issues in politics and government.REPORT COMMENTS

The National Science Foundation is one of the important knowledge producing institutions in this country. As a country, we need to continue advancing our collective knowledge of the world. Eliminating such an important funding source at this time is unacceptable.REPORT COMMENTS
