Our nation must exhibit human care as is shown by those other countries supporting national disasters. We cannot forsake our responsibilities as a developed nation who can support these efforts.

As Congress returns from its summer break, please make the extension of Hurricane Ike Social Services Block Grants funds an urgent priority! It will save jobs and empower people as they continue their recovery from Hurricane Ike and not add to the deficit. Please, please act before the September 30, 2010 expiration date to extend this funding.

President Obama, Ladies and Gentlemen of Congress, I commend your efforts in considering the extension of the SSGB. The services provided via this program are invaluable to the families in need of help. As a service provider, this program has afforded me the opportunity to serve the families in capacities that would be unachievable without this program. I am grateful to have the opportunity to work for these families and provide them with the recources that they desire. Thank you for your time and consideration, Daniel L. LeSage, M.A. Applied Behavior Analysis Consultant and Therapist

Unemployed people affected by Hurricane Ike are receiving job training - some of them have received hazardous materials training and are helping clean up the Gulf Oil Spill

There are so many families who have not fully recovered from the affects of Hurricane Ike. These funds will go a long ways in helping families recover - regaining a sense of self-independence and security. Without these funds, many of our most vulnerable families (senior and disabled) will be forced to live in unsafe and unsanitary environments.

The services that are provided through SSBG are very helpful towards helping those who were affected by Hurricane Ike. There are many people who are still suffering from the damages and changes that Hurricane Ike has caused. If the SSBG program does not continue, many people may never reach their pre-disaster state, and the economy will suffer more from unemployment.

There are lots of people who still need home repairs and stabilization since the Hurricane. I grew up in Galveston County and it has not beenthe same. Many of the people did not return and many businesses are still not reopened. I realize it will not be the same since the storm but it could sure improve from where it is now with the extention of the Social Service Grant money to the Gulf Coast area.

There are so many people that still need assistance in home repair and unmet needs. The funds are there, so let's extend the time we have to spend it!
