As an employee of the MHMRA Hurricane Ike Counseling program, I have provided counseling services to over 400 clients and I am continuously receiving referrals for individuals needing our help. I have entered many homes, schools, shelters and other locations and have personal knowledge of the unmet needs that the residents of Harris and Fort Bend have. I have witnessed many tragic stories of families who lost everything they owned to Hurricane Ike. It is with this information that I am requesting your consideration to extend the Hurricane Ike Counseling Program so that we can continue to provide assistance to these families that are still in need due to this disastorous event.

Please extend this grant! This grant offered a very much needed service that you cannot find anywhere else which is, counseling. We often forget about the mental strain disasters have on us and others but the writers of this grant didn't. I have benefited from all the services offered by this grant and I am still in need of the help. Please grant the extension!

The services offered by this grant has been a great help to the communities and survivors of Hurricane Ike. However, there is still a GREAT deal of work to be done and the services are still GREATLY needed!! Please grant this extension! The Crisis Counseling, Formal Mental Health Services, and the loving care that the employees of this grant offer has been such a blessing to me, my family and others affected by this natural disaster. So, again, Please grant this extension!! Thank you in advance!

The money is here, the need is here. Please do not let the clock run out before our people can get their homes back together. None of us ever realized how long the way back to normalcy could or would be. Recovery takes time. Please give it to Galveston.

Please Mr. President, and distinguished members of Congress; we, here in the coastal region of Texas, need your help! I know that after a natural disaster occurs, and the media coverage moves on to the next story, it becomes all too easy for the nation at large to forget; or, in essence, move on. However, what the nation does not see are the faces of the many people, here in the coastal regions of our great state, who can not simply move on. They can not move on, because they literally have no where to move to. There are so many, still here, living in homes that are in such bad shape, due to the damages caused by Hurricane Ike, that they continue to live in houses which would be considered uninhabitable by most people. However, due to the fact that so many of these people represented the most vulnerable and disenfranchised of our state, speaking of the poor and the elderly, those of us who have been working to help them are often the only ones who can attest, on their behalf, that they simply do not have a voice to say "Help! I need help to get back on my feet, because all I can do for now is to survive from one day to the next." There are still so many here for whom, if they had the financial means to do so or had the family support system to help them, they would indeed move someplace else; to start over again. However, for the vast majority of these people who were living on meager fixed-monthly incomes, prior to Hurricane Ike's occurence, and for whom still need help with the repair of their homes and the rebuilding of their neighborhoods, I ask that you please not forget them!

Please extend the term. I work with a non-profit agency; Tejano Center for Community Concerns located in the heart of Denver Harbor. We have provided repair services through various grants. We have over 100 families in our waiting list; these families are still getting wet every time it rains and a short drive through our neighborhoods will reveal a lot of blue roofs. 100 might be just a number to you but once you have established a rapport with these families and know their struggles and pain; it is very hard to tell them that they will not be helped because of a deadline or lack of funding. These families see us as their only hope to bring their homes back to pre-Ike conditions. I beg you to please extend the deadline and extend an invitation to visit with some of our families in need of repairs

An extension would provide time for case mgmt.agencies finish helping their clients move to thier pre-disaster conditions without interuption of their recovery resources.
