save the hounds

It has recently come to my attention that there is still a law on the books in South Carolina regarding hunting dogs being referred to as property. It is section 47-1-70. This law allows an owner to dump their dogs wherever, and whenever they please, without facing animal cruelty charges. Every year shelters fill up with sick, starving, hound dogs that have been abandoned by their owners. This law needs to be changed, and these people need to be held responsible. There is no difference between a poodle or a beagle. The laws need to be the same regarding prosecution. This is 2020, we are no longer living in the 1800s. Please help do the right thing for these innocent animals and change this outdated law. thank-you, Jeanne Dellario, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
