Evidence-based research is vital in informing policy makers of where funding is needed. Do not dismiss the thousands of constituents this would affect.

Data collected from the ACS is vital in community planning and business planning; it is shocking to think of the consequences of not having this information. This move is penny-wise, pound foolish as the cost of NOT having this data will be tremendous.

We are increasingly an information-based and information-driven society. The ACS is invaluable in capturing essential information for decision making.

Astonishing that such a treasure of systematically recorded data would be abandoned. The ACS is essential to good government and public policy.

I have just recently relied on the ACS data to write a 3 year comprehensive plan for HIV services in the Charlotte Transitional Grant Area (Ryan White funding for areas severely and disportionately affected by HIV disease). We all rely on the ACS for basic information on community income and other basic demographic data - it is essential to public health planning.

How could a less informed government mean a more efficient government? The ACS is a vital part of making sure the government's money is invested in the places where it can do the most for the American people.

Do not let the ACS be dropped -- it is important to local area researchers and policy makers.
