Preventing the slaughter of horses in the US has drastly hurt he health and welfare of the horse population. There needs to be an economical way to deal with unwanted and uncared for horses. US slaughter offers that solution at no cost to the tax payer or the gtovernment.REPORT COMMENTS

Horses have suffered greatly because there is not outlet for them. Being turned out in a barren, cold winter pasture to slowly starve to death is fate far worse than a quick end to their lives in a slaughter plant!!!!! Please restore common sense!REPORT COMMENTS

The public needs to realize that horses are a part of our agricultural heritage, just like pigs, cows, chickens, etc. Slaughter isn't pretty, for any animal, but is neccessary to life. By reducing the value of horses we have put them in the same category as abandoned cats and dogs. Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to humanly put down a 1000lb animal. Think realistically!REPORT COMMENTS

If you don't repel the ban, I recommend each member of congress watch a horse starve to death. It is a slow painful death.REPORT COMMENTS

I am a horse lover, and have owned them my whole life. While I wish that horse slaughter were not necessary, so long as horse owners are allowed to breed however they wish then there will never be enough good homes for them. So long as the Government follows through, protects the horses, and keeps their welfare in the forefront then it should help to bring over more of the PETA groups and negative propaganda down a notch. For now they're left starving in fields, rescues overrun and underfunded, while more horses are flooding the market every day. In a perfect work, there would be no need for slaughter houses. It is a necessary evil, unfortunately, but one that will end up saving more horses in the end.REPORT COMMENTS

Please help bring our industry back! As much as I love my horses, we all need to keep in mind that they are livestock, not pets. Keep our animals in our country, under our standards, make it legal again!REPORT COMMENTS
