I love all animals and it breaks my heart to see any suffer. I would much rather see a horse go to slaughter and be used to feed someone, than to see them standing around in fields or pastures starving to death. -

I am a farrier and I am an animal advocate. Please allow horse slaughter! In my area the rescues are completely overwhelmed and with no value so many unwanted horses are being neglected.REPORT COMMENTS

Usa needs humane slaughter houses for horses again! I love my horses but we over breed them so we should solve this problem!REPORT COMMENTS

Horses are being neglected, given away, and set free in the mountains because people cannot afford to take care of them! There is no where for unwanted horses to go.REPORT COMMENTS

I am a AQHA/APHA Lifetime member, avid horsewomen that has owned horses for 30+ years and I have seen horse values the lowest they have been in 40 years because the horse slaughter plants have been banned in the US. I have seen thousand of horses at auctions get sold for meat, these horses travel out of country to be slaughtered. These horses suffer tremendously in these trailers without food n water. The meat buyers "DO NOT" seperate the stallions, foals, mares or gelding in these trailers. These horses are squeezed into the trailers where some of the horses get killed from fighting, they fall then get trapped on the floor of the trailers where they die a slow death. What about these horses? It has caused the horse market to crash, 1000 of horses are starving, abandoned or neglected!!! We must open these Horse Slaughter plants to not only provide jobs and but it would help the suffering of horses!REPORT COMMENTS

True Horse owners/people know for ABSOLUTE fact that closing the slaughter houses have ruined and utterly destroyed the horse market. In turn has put so many horses into such tragic situations that if the slaughter houses were open that wouldn't have happened. Now how HUMANE is that????REPORT COMMENTS

Please pay attention to what the actual Equine Experts (AQHA, AVA, AHA and many others) now have to say about the Horse Slaughter issue in this country. Our horses are SUFFERING! Read your GAO report and allow the processing plants to be operated here in AMERICA again where our beloved horses will be treated with RESPECT.REPORT COMMENTS

Regulated horse slaughter is a responsible way to manage the horse industry. It is necessary to have a way to dispose of dangerous or unfit 1000+lb animals.REPORT COMMENTS

They can be taken care of in a more humane fashion if we have control over the slaughter houses than shipping them out of the country.REPORT COMMENTS

Humane transport and slaughter is a more fitting end to a good horses life, than wasting his body by disposal in a land fill. Please restore funding for USDA inspection of horse transportation and slaughter facilities.REPORT COMMENTS

Senseless suffering of horses left in dry dirt lots to starve to death is inhumane. We need slaughter houses, it is a sad and unfortunate fact. It's better to put a horse down then watch it starve for months before it dies.REPORT COMMENTS

This is so overdue. Please put rotating USDA inspectors back in, & open the slaughter houses. This can be done correctly.REPORT COMMENTS
