My husband have multiple certifications for his employment. Yet has to be drug tested for his paycheck. Which a percentage of that goes to welfare. Excuse me but there is something really wrong with that. -

The government states that most welfare recipients are not drug users. I work extremely close with the public and I believe this "fact" to be just plain wrong.REPORT COMMENTS

I work in HUD/tax credit subsidized housing and see these able bodied people having their entire lives funded by the federal govt. they receive food stamps, secton8, SSI, Medicaid, renter rebate, Obama phone, you name it. It's disgusting ! What's even more disgusting is the vast majority are known drug addicts, they don't even try to hide the fact that they do drugs and sell drugs while living off the system. C this bill must pass to preserve the entitlement for those that have a need and are clean and sober.REPORT COMMENTS

i worked in shoprite for three years helping run the front end and i saw how people abuse things like wic and food stamps and i cant tell you how many times the people using those forms of tender were not the owners of the card or checks and they went their merry way right out the friggin door... of course it would of helped if security was there half the time. i never thought a store chain making over a million a week would run a store half the week without security.....REPORT COMMENTS

I agree 100% that all recipients of all assistance types should be tested for illicit drug use, and denied until a negative sample is given. Then, mandatory requirement of entering a drug treatment program should be enforced. Another recommendation is a requirement to ID food stamp recipients to assure the card matches their personal State issued ID.REPORT COMMENTS

I am tired of hearing it violates privacy but it is ok to drug test to get a job or to keep a job, but not ok to test someone collecting taxpayer money every monthREPORT COMMENTS

Support should be provided, as needed, to the addict(s) to help them get drug-free. That will be better use of the money vs. continuing to provide aid to the drug users. We must also consider if the drug addicts have any children and have a program in place to make sure that their children will not be affected.REPORT COMMENTS

Too many people receive assistance that don't actually need it, there should be a more thorough investigation of their assets. If someone is driving a nice car and wearing designer clothes, they should not qualify. States should not offer such a high amount of food benefits, I work to feed my family- steak and shrimp are a privilege that I earn. I understand that the public need help sometimes, but some people expect a handout. There should also be a limit as to how long an individual can receive welfare. Too many of them sell their food benefits in order to purchase drugs. Action should be taken immediately, this is our tax money supporting these free loaders.REPORT COMMENTS

Drug testing should be mandatory. If I have to take one to work (whils someone is watching/random) and keep my job that is something that everyone should do if you want support to continue receiving benefits of all kinds.REPORT COMMENTS
