I have worked since 16 and now I'm 70. I have contributed many years to Social Security even though I also was a dedicated teacher for 20 years. I also served the USA as a Vista Volunteer and an Army Reservist. Why does my country penalize me? Are teachers rich? No, we are the working poor. We pay for licenses, exams, professional training updates, and college loans. The USA needs motivated teachers, please help. -

The very name windfall would immediately prejudice anyone because it indicates wealth. As any retiree knows this definitely is not the case. The fact of the matter is most of us are seeking to re-enter the workforce due to this very unjust legislation. The only way to overturn this is to point out to those who are considering it,that this indeed is a misnomer ie WINDFALL!REPORT COMMENTS

At age 72 I have to work or become homeless. At age 65 I started working for a school district. Due to the lost Social Security benefits because I'm working I will have only receive $1100. monthly to live on because Social Security does not keep pace with retirement pension. Half of what I get from a pension is taken away from Social Security. I am worst off than if I had just not worked at all. I don't get the fairness of this. If I earned it I should get to keep it. It's impossible for a woman to build 32 years contributing to social security when they take time for child birth and taking take of them.REPORT COMMENTS

The WEP/GPO, in my opinion is like a Felon, convicted and still out on bail for thirty-five years. This Repeal should be acted upon "Now". As I previously mentioned, this law is in my opinion illegal. If you take money from what the people paid for, it is called stealing.REPORT COMMENTS

I am a retired civil service worker of 28 years of service with a pension. Also work 16 plus years in the private sector. I went to apply for my social security retirement and was very shock to find out I was only receiving half. I need some help understanding why this is happing. I work so hard all my life to enjoy my retirement and now see what the government is doing. I am not asking for other people?s money just asking for what I have worked so hard for. Every payday the government took their payment why can?t I have mind. I hope I am not asking for a handout. If I am wrong asking for this please forgive me. Thanks for letting me vent and have a nice retirement one day.REPORT COMMENTS

It is so unfair for teachers and other public servants to work extra jobs to supplement their income due to the low salaries we make, and then the government keeps our money we paid in to social security. Then if we lose our spouse, we can't draw what they paid in. The working people are punished. We have immigrants and people that never worked a day in their lives, and they can draw our hard earned money that we made to try to better their lives. We still have to pay our medial, dental, vision insurance, and still pay federal taxes. We also have to buy our food, pay home bills, buy food, pay for our own transportation, on and on and on. Immigrants and people that have never worked get all these things free. This should be unconstitutional!REPORT COMMENTS

Please strongly consider repealing the WEP and GPO. It is an unfair act. I'm a 35 year educator and my husband died at 62. He paid in to social security all his working life, and I should be able to draw a widow's benefit.REPORT COMMENTS
