I teach first grade & I absolutely HATE common core. It is NOT developmentally appropriate for students in K-3! It needs to go ASAP!!!!!REPORT COMMENTS

If the common core is supposed to make children hate school, destroy their self confidence and take away from family time then it has served its purpose. A child should love to learn not hate it.REPORT COMMENTS

I am an educator. When my daughter graduated from high school and started to consider prospective careers, one of them was teaching. I discouraged her from this goal suggesting she go with her second choice of social work. Teachers are no longer valued, our creativity in the classroom is stifled, and we are micromanaged so completely that it is not possible to make learning fun for our students. We simply teach to the tests, and test till they cry. At least in social services my daughter will have the opportunity to help some of the students who will eventually be living on the public's dime when they inevitably quit school out of frustration.REPORT COMMENTS

I am in 10th grade and I want a well-rounded education. Not the education that Bill Gates thinks I should have. He is nobody to me. My school day is being wasted on practicing test taking methods or taking tests and exams. Get rid of Common Core - my future depends on it!REPORT COMMENTS

I think that common core is a travesty. It is an assault on our children and the TRAINED Educators who teach them. I have MANY friends who are teachers and I have a wide circle of parents who can not believe the plain idiocy of the lessons our children are presented with. The children are confused. The problems take three times as long to work and nothing is gained in the end. The kids still can't subtract 10 from 32. We MUST go back to the tried and true methods of teaching our children or we will succumb to failing children, failing test scores and failing teachers. Oh, maybe that is the plan all along...REPORT COMMENTS

END Common Core, Get rid of Arne and Coleman -neither have experience in education. They have NO business deciding standards or tests. Tell Bill Gates to stick to computers; if he wants to dabble in education, try finishing that college degree. NO more $ with strings attached and leave teaching up to parents and teachers who know best. Kids are not your marketplace for data collection and they are not guinea pigs. What CC has done is criminal, on every level.REPORT COMMENTS
