Common core is making my 4th grade son extremely stressed out not to mention his schools spends an abnormal amount of time teaching the students how the pass the state tests. His education is seriously lacking. I have no problem with his learning new things and being challenged but what we are doing to our children is idiocy. Teaching them 3 levels above their grade level in the 4th grade does not make sense. The curriculum is extremely rushed in order to test prep. How did we come to this?

My children seem to be getting held back by this Commom Core program. Do we really need our children to know how to figure out math problems 20 different ways? I remember having to use my own brain to figure out how to work problems, to find the best way for me to solve problems...to find the answer quickly and efficiently which is not what is happening with Common Core! I don't see how Common Core is going to move children forward when they are spending so much time being told how to solve problems a million ways, seems to me that all the time being spent on solving problems is just slowing the children down, thus not making as much progress!

The implementation of common core is not conducive to a positive educational environment. The government is failing the young minds of our children by forcing them into a cookie cutter educational system. I have a 9 year old son who is proof that common core only serves as a tool to discourage free thinking and negatively impacts a child's self esteem. Every child's learning process is unique and should be treated that way. We have stripped the power of our educators to reach the hearts and minds of our youth. Our children should not be taught in a way that is similar to a manufacturing cars or homes. We are a nation of free people and free thinking should be our right. If we do not stand up and make a change we are robbing our future generations of the ability to be successful. I do recognize that some young people have no problem learning in our current system. However, there are many gifted children who will never realize their potential in society because we are telling them that if they are not meeting testing standards they will not succeed in life. Please take a step back and consider the ramifications of common core as our future in this country may depend on it.

Why add wasted non value added tasks or steps to any process when it adds no value to the end goal. Actually, it even causes the wrong answer to occur if it can be replaced by a relative explanation of how the student arrived at their wrong answer. Why is our country's government imposing a system which not only dumbs down but intentionally produces students which rather than quickly obtaining the answer can only rationalize as to why they got the wrong answer while our competitors (assuming we're a sovereign country) will get the correct answers and progress. Dumbing down is replaced by an intentional attempt to destroy as result of common core.

It sounds to me as if the common core standards are ultimately trying to indoctrinate anti christian teachings. Maybe this will help usher in the Anti Christ.

I think that public schools should go back to how they were last century. More intellectual and far less technology based

Common Core is a waste of time and provides no help to kids today. The teaching of my generation should not have been changed. This is just one more thing Obama did that ruined the nation. We need to stop this obserd change in schooling and go back to the way that makes sense.
