I have been doing research on marijuana for years. The fact that it is considered a schedule 1 drug is ludicrous. It's not dangerous, and has plenty of health benefits. It's not dangerous in the slightest. I advocate it's use and would use it everyday if I could. Every other state have initiatives in place for the legalization of medical marijuana, and I think it's time for Indiana to WAKE UP and take notice of the progress this great nation has made on this issue. It's time to legalize Indiana, folks. More importantly, it's time to legalize America. -

I have bipolar and marijuana helps keep me calm . There are a lot worse drugs out there that are killing people and damaging lifes on a daily basis. Marijuana was put here for a reason and it's to heal and treat people with many different types of medical conditions. This should not be the focus of penalty. And let's be real here people look at the billions of dollars in tax revenue that Denver receives every year. That money can be used in very resourceful ways just like it does every where it's legal to purchase. You can help hungry and homeless children among many other purposes.REPORT COMMENTS

I suffer from severe anxiety disorder, constant pains from scoliosis and a car accident years ago; I should not have to be treated when I visit other states, yet, I can't come back to my home state with Medicinal Marijuana.. you can't overdose on Marijuana, there's zero deaths to Marijuana; but there are however dozens of health advantages to it; how can we be the land of the free, united, and controlled by the government over an herb that's been around since the beginning of time, and yet only some states are legal? It's 100% organic, naturally grown, and also found wild in nature? Other states have seen the plus sides to it; why must Indiana be stuck in the 1950s? Keeping it illegal brings unnecessary drug charges, prevents jobs from opening, and hurts the citizens who can urgently benefit from it? If you want to ban drugs, ban pharmaceutical companies for the severity of the side effects that their chemicals have on our natural lives and well being! Being healthy shouldn't be expensive, nor' should the side effects hurt us more than our problems; so please, stop defending big brother pharmaceutical companies and open your eyes! And please, stop acting like Marijuana ends lives when it in fact saves them, there's more important things to keep illegal to save lives.REPORT COMMENTS

I think they should legalize it already. We have all theae states around us that are legalized. I also think that it would be well profitable for this state (Indiana). Marajuana is not harmful. Its not like its going to kill millions of people. Thirdly I think if marijuana was legalized i think people wouldn't head towards the harder drugs like: ( herion, crack, cocain, ecstacy, etc.), Because they would have sonething they xan get so much easier and cheaper.. LEGALIZE MARAJUANA and get it OVER with.. Give is our rights to our free mind and freedom...REPORT COMMENTS

I served in the U.S. Marine Corps Infantry for nearly 10 yrs and I am a combat veteran of Iraq. I recently turned 40 in Nov. I have degenerative arthritis and discs through out my entire spine along with multiple compressed vertebrae, torn labrum and bone spurs in my left hip. I also have PTSD from severe fighting during the second battle to retake the city of Fallujah in Iraq. I currently receive medical care from the VA, Which is a insult to myself and any other man or woman who sacrifices for this country. I was told I have to wait for 3 to 5 yrs for my hip to completely give out before I can have surgery. Not to mention we are all told that we have been through a lot and have pills shoved down out throats. There is absolutely no reason why Veterans or any other human being should be forced to take pills to get through everyday life, When there is a far safer alternative. While I disagree to legalizing marijuana for recreational use there is no reason why it shouldn't be for medicinal purposes.REPORT COMMENTS

I suffer from depression, anxiety, ptsd, bi-polar, among other mental disorders. Marijuana helps me more than any of my prescribed medications. And only helps more as an addition to them. I am able to not only deal but succeed in every day life, where I would normally barely be able to just stay functional, because of the help Marijuana gives me. And I am merely a small, miniscule, piece of the grand puzzle. The negative stereotypes are only spread by the uneducated or the few who abuse what is really a miracle gift. Outside of the medical effects, the uses of hemp in oils, paper, rope, fabric, and many other useful biproducts; are truly a long untapped resource that is safer, cleaner, and cheaper. Even used as recreational has its benefits. The taxed income alone is astounding as already proven by Colorado. Money that can be used to better roads, schools, communities, and even provide numerous jobs for the job market. I plead, encourage, and beg of those in power to really look at all the different angles and potential for Marijuana; for I truly feel that legalizing this natural plant is in the best interest of everyone.REPORT COMMENTS

Please take back the power that was given to the Cartel and black market and give it to the rightful citizens of this country. There is no longer a war on marijuana and if there was, it would be a victory for marijuana because marijuana is already used by every corner of this country. Let's conserve the right to benefit from this product instead of enslave. Let me ask you this question. What is the issue with people being happy? Marijuana makes people happy. The peace movement was inspired by citizens who we're using marijuana as a way to stop the violence and live happy lives. Why not? All the government is doing is denying it's people the right to be happy. So basicly the government is telling me they will rather have someone incarcerated and their freedom taken away, rather than creating cures for many types of illnesses and jobs for anyone working in the cannabis field. Shake my head! Thank you for your time and I appreciate any steps that can be taken to help reform this act.REPORT COMMENTS

We the people have the right to reform any law that is unfit for the state of the people. How can alcohol and cigarettes be legal and marijuana stays as a scheduled drug to be controlled? This state does not have control over the real drug use of potentially deadly drugs like heroine. There are deadly drugs in this Country and of which is not cannabis. Cannabis has no negative effect like cancer. Cigarettes and alcohol killed billions of people already. Let me see one case where marijuana itself has caused harm to one person in the entire world! Zero cases have been found of any such occurrences. Medically cannabis helps prevent seizures, reduces pain in cancer patients, helps glaucoma patients see properly, and generates enough revenue to bring this country out of debt by itself. There is only one problem with cannabis, it's illegal! Make it legal and we can all live happy stress free lives. Please consider this as a small part of the benefits that can come from legalizing cannabis. I appreciate your time and considerations for reading this paragraph. There are to many heart aches from keeping this natural plant a schedule 1 drug, and not making medical break throughs. Thank you, have a great day.REPORT COMMENTS

I believe that the legalization of marijuana will reduce the incarceration rate, will raise help bring our country out of debt, and truly give our citizens the freedom of choice. Marijuana is an herb that was made from the grounds of many countries, people have decided to burn it and get high from it. This may seem crazy to most people, but it helps the stressed people of this country relax, it makes life for some people more bearable. I am a Christian, and I believe that God gave us free will for a reason. I do not condone smoking marijuana, because it is against the law, but I do support freedom for any man or woman. If you don't get anything else from this, just know that God loved all of us so much, that He gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in Him (with everything he or she does) shall not parish (in hell), but have eternal life (in heaven).REPORT COMMENTS

i have a son that has autism. he was on a focus medicine, a sleep med and an agressional pill. i was able to weave him off the abilify which turns out was making the situation worst. if Marijuana was legal I could provide him with it to calm him down from bouncing off the walls, and allow him to sleep peacefully and through the night. i would be able to take him off of his medication which is costing Medicaid 4500 dollars a month. level the odds and define the savings. do have alcohal legal which not only impedes but also caused damage to the body and not marijuana is beyond belief. i vote for medical and recreational use in indiana as a resident's of Indiana and as every day working citizen that juggles 2 but feels like 4 kids with my situation. it blows my mind to not think something that that has cures is illegal and something that can put you in jail in a heart head or the hospital with just one more drink is legal. shows the smarts of the people running the show if you ask me. yet we must follow them so being said do a solid and legalize something that can benifit more than just accepting pay for 6 months probation and court costs.REPORT COMMENTS

I have bipolar disorder and severe manic depression and arthritis and mild herniated disc. I was getting help with the bipolar disorder but the meds were making worse so I smoked marijuana when I couldn't get the marijuana I had suicidal thoughts and wanted to hurt others. So I checked myself into a stress center. The meds they have me on now helps but it kill my liver and I have to get my blood levels checked cause it could kill me. Now since I had marijuana in my system I can't get pain medication for my back. I don't use marijuana now but I do have to worry everyday if I'm killing my liver not to mention the pain I live with from my back.REPORT COMMENTS
