I was diagnosed in 1973 and insulin was $4 it has risen 7000% since then. This is not sustainable. It is nothing more than greed. -

I am a the 1 diabetic. Without my 4 insulin injections a day I would not be living. I am a lucky TID - I have insurance. Open your hearts and minds to the plight of those without functioning beta islets cell. We are not a third world country so why do we not have free insulin and supplies for this life and death disease?REPORT COMMENTS

This is worse than Epi-Pens. Many more patients need it, and the loss to society is greater. If Congress won't fix the problem because they should for voters with diabetes, perhaps they will because if they don't Medicare will be paying TRILLIONS of dollars for all the patients with diabetes who can't see or walk. Come on Congress- stop pandering to the drug companies who donate to keep you in office. If you don't, we'll vote you out.REPORT COMMENTS

Thankfully I'm fully insured at this time... but I still have to fight with my insurance co about paying for the insulin that I need, not what they think that I need. Insulin is a replacement hormone, one that sustains our life.. how and why is it fair that the big pharma can and do get rich off of a few million of us just trying to live our daily lives. It's pathetic, many of us resort to telling our doctor we need more than we do so we have extra and can go a month without having to buy any.. or give a few extra vials to a online friend that needs it for their 5yr old son, who is without, they can't afford insulin at $650 a month and their monthly rent. The burden of guilt that puts on each family member. I wish Congress would walk a mile in our shoes with the medical issues and financial problems that many of us have. Please stop killing off your voting public!! HELP, us, make the big pharma lower the prices of insulin so we can at least not have that worry hanging over our heads daily.REPORT COMMENTS

I'm a type one diabetic and used to use novalog and Humalog insulin. A long time though are actually not that long ago I used to pay $35 a bottle for these mothers now it's 400 . I live on a fixed income I'm on Medicare and I'm disabled and I cannot afford this medication any longer. I live on a fixed income I'm on Medicare and I'm disabled and I cannot afford this medication any longer it's gotten so bad that I had to switch to Novolin R just to reduce my costs for insulin . How much longer are the public raping lobbyists going to continue manipulating our elected leaders ? What's happening in America is criminally wrong . when I government does not fear the people it's called attorn when I government does not fear the people it's called Taryn me Terrany but when the government fears of people it's called liberty. but when the government fears of people it's called liberty it's time that legislators stop giving into the special interests and start listening and helping the people .REPORT COMMENTS

Businesses should be able to make a reasonable profit. But the hijacking of medical products/pharmaceuticals that have previously been available for years at low cost and raising that cost astronomically for a business owner's personal financial gain is deplorable. Please protect lives and restore insulin, injectable epinephrine and other life-saving medications to a reasonable cost and an honest reasonable profit based business for the manufacturer.REPORT COMMENTS

We have a kid with type 1 diabetes and depend on insulin as well as test strips. There is something wrong when the U.S. price is many multiples of what it costs in other countries.REPORT COMMENTS

Our son is 9. He was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 3 years old. Without insulin he will die. Without him, we will die. The cost of insulin has driven our family to sacrifice so very much. Simple things like cable television, cell phones, movie theater outings, family fun trips to anywhere that costs money have been deleted from our lives. More complex things like groceries for mom and dad, fuel for our cars, Christmas, outings as a family, a savings for our future have also been either deleted and/or cut back significantly to afford the cost of his ever rising insulin. You see, my husband and I work 2 jobs each, back to back, cut back on food for him and me so we can afford groceries for our family, and even have stopped taking our medications so we can afford the cost of the insulin. These children did not ask to be born with type 1 diabetes. These children are our future, our smiles, our hope. Without affordable insulin and testing supplies for all there isn't hope for a future.REPORT COMMENTS

I am 56. Have been insulin dependant since 10. Worked all my life till diabetic neuropathy forced me to go on total disability at 50. Since Medicare "donut hole" comes after only 3 months my insulin cost alone is $2010 for 3 month supply. Does not include any other meds associated with diabetic complications. So I now on fixed income that 1/3 is needed for insulin alone. Have cut back on proper dosage and back to health issues due to blood glucose levels.REPORT COMMENTS

And this life-sustaining medication is not just one injection or pill per day, it must be calibrated and graduated many times per day to balance each meal, each snack that these Type 1 children and adults take in. Every day of their lives, until there's a cure. Too much can cause coma now; too little can lead to long-term organ failure, blindness, amputations. Let's at least let this crucial, lifetime prescription medication be affordable.REPORT COMMENTS
