My sister has been a T1D for 20 years. I was very young when she was diagnosed but I've watched her struggle to maintain this disease. This disease is genetic, there is absolutely nothing she could have done to prevent this. T1D is a full time job, you don't get a break from it. You have to work tirelessly every day trying to maintain a "normal" blood glucose level. Battling highs and lows, fighting to live every single day. On top of it all insulin, something she absolutely requires to live is astronomically expensive. Why is that we can make birth control free but diabetics have to go broke trying to survive? I'm pleading with you to help my sister and the other 29 million Americans who live with diabetes everyday. There is no reason she should pay $900 out of pocket before her $5000 deductible is met and $300 after that. You pay or you die. They have no options but to go broke trying to live. She has two young children who need her. Please make insulin affordable, it's disgusting to profit off of someone's pain.Jul 23rd, 2017Jennifer P. from Saint Paul, MN signed.

Someone's life should never be held hostage for someone else's profit. It is horrendous that someone has to be forced into bankruptcy, poverty, and hardship just to have the right to LIVE. My dear friend has to pay $900 a month for her medication, our of pocket until her deductible is met, which is $5000. Once met, it is $300 a month out of pocket. How is this not someone profiting over another person's life?! How is this alright? She can't just not buy her medication. If she can't buy it. She dies . End of story. Her two children will be without a mother. Dead. Gone. And they know this, which is why the raise the prices so high. You either pay. Or you die. Stop the cruelty.REPORT COMMENTS

I have been a T1D for 20 years. I did nothing to bring this disease onto myself. Without insulin, I die. It's as simple as that. Without insulin, my two children under the age of 6 are without a mother. A mother who works hard every single day to be strong and healthy and because of our family taking on this responsibility and saving insurance companies thousands of dollars by my NOT being hospitalized all the time, we have suffered. I pay over $900 a month before we hit our $5,000 deductible. After that I still pay over $300.00 a month. I don't have a choice. I need this to live. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help us. You have no idea how hard families with T1D work to stay healthy. Help us to take care of ourselves and I'm sure, save insurance companies money in the long run!!!REPORT COMMENTS

The drug companies are arbitrarily raising prices to increase their profits to the point where many of us cannot afford the drugs we need to stay healthy. If this is such a great country why are so many of our citizens having to choose between food and taking their medications? No wonder our average life span has fallen,REPORT COMMENTS

I am one of four people in my family who has diabetes. The cost of insulin is exorbitant even with double coverage. It has impacted our ability to pay bills We have to choose between life saving insulin and our house payment. That is wrong.REPORT COMMENTS

High cost of insulin versus the cheaper insulin is in essence the same as abortion for some children. It's denying their rights to Life!REPORT COMMENTS

My son has had diabetes for 5 years. He's about to graduate and I'm terrified for him.. terrified that he will not be able to afford his insulin. Right now we pay $277 a vial for his Novolog (he uses 3 vials a month). He shouldn't have to choose to pay his electric bill or buy groceries or insulin. Please make insulin affordable to everyone.REPORT COMMENTS

Insulin should have gone generic long ago! I have cut my insulin expense drastically by buying ReliOn (WalMart's house brand)....no RX needed. Or you can have your Dr prescribe it to purchase as a vial (instead of pre filled pen) & it only costs $27 per vial ! Really! You will need to buy insulin syringes separately, but they are inexpensive. You can buy them with thin needles in boxes of 100. have reduced my Monthly drug expense by hundreds of dollars! I happened on this info on the web; discussed it with my Dr & made the switch. I am tired of letting the drug companies take a huge chunk of my money just because they refuse to let this life-saving drug go generic & keep the budget options a secret!REPORT COMMENTS
