This fund benefits our nation, its cities and towns, states and tribes, in so many ways. It must be reauthorized

Once history is gone, it's gone forever. Please support the legislation that preserves the past to make our present and future more informed.

As an archaeologist and museum professional, the preservation of history for future generations is something I strive for everyday. This funding makes it possible for communities all over the US to get funds needed to care for their local history, save historic sites, and continue to educate the public about our past.

As a student of history and anthropology, as well as the daughter and granddaughter of federal employees and an aspiriny librarian, I urgently request that my government continue to fund the preservation of our historic and cultural resources so that we can share our legacy for generations.

I am a professor of anthropology at a Community College in New York State. As part of educating my students, I try to instill the importance of a shared cultural history that includes that of all people who contributed to the creation of the modern American landscape. The HPF is an important public contribution to preserving our shared heritage. In times when we need to emphasize what we have in common with our fellow citizens, one of the best ways to demonstrate this is by preserving and highlighting the contributions all people have made to our shared identity. It is too easy to bulldoze away our complicated and rich history. Please champion the cause of saving the history of our country to make sure our children will know where we came as it is so important in shaping where we are going and how we are going to get there.

This is so important for us all. If we destroy our heritage, we will lose it forever.
