BETTER TREATMENT FOR PEOPLE THAT ARE INCARCERATED RIGHT NOW.
I have a family member that is incarcerated. He was in a low security facility which was Elkton, they said that they were moving him because of overcrowding and so that they can better control the corona virus. However they moved him to a penitentiary along with other inmates from Elkton and other facilities, so where he is at now it is still impossible to socially distance. My issue with this is that you take a low security inmate and put them in a penitentiary and treat them like that is where they are suppose to be. My family member is now at USP Yazoo City, since he have been transferred there they have been on lockdown for 90% of the times for 5 days at a time without even being let out to take a shower. They also have been giving them spoiled milk, molded bread and expired food. They were locked down for all of the holidays including MLK holiday. Also my family member said he have been fed molded bread, spoiled milk and expired food. I sent him mail that he sent to me when he was being moved and I sent it beck to him because he have an appeal going on and needed it but they still haven't given it to him, I made another copy and sent it with a tracking to make sure they got it which they did but still haven't given it to him. I have contacted the the facility and asked to speak to the warden, his assistant the assistant warden and their assistant and was always told that I couldn't talk to the. I have sent 2 emails on the facility site and still haven't gotten a response. I have contacted the ACLU and the NAACP but I guess if the story isn't in the news they are not interested. I have also contacted the BOP, Attorney General office and the DOJ and have gotten no answer. The BOP is using the pandemic to mistreat the prisoners and the government is letting them get away with it. I get that they are prisoners, but they have been sent to jail to serve time isn't that their punishment? So why do the government feel like they can add more punishment to what the judges have already handed down whit out them committing any other crimes?
