Public Servant Accountability Act

It's time for the congress and federal government to pass regulations that enhance the penalties for public servants and government officials that abuse their power or violate the public trust.

As a public or government official, the office or position held often comes with an oath or public trust that when abused makes the acts more heinous than when the act is committed by an ordinary citizen. As such, the public or government official should face stricter penalties when abuses of power or position are investigated and proven in a court of law and judged by a jury of their peers.

In addition to criminal and or civil litigation, all abuses of public or government positions, power, and trust should come with a lifetime ban on holding other public or governmental positions as this is in the best interest of society at large. Once someone has committed acts that violate the public trust or abuse of power, they are more likely to do so again in the future and must be prevented from doing so.
