Why should it matter what we use it for? This was given to us for our service to our country. I will be medically retiring with pretty much no work experience except using a gun in combat. I plan on going from infantry to flight. Please allow me to use my funds for what my dream is.Sep 11th, 2015Someone from Washougal, WA signed.

Cut Foreign aid. Let the rest of the world help those countries we have been helping since the end of WWII. Stop providing aid and assistance to illegals. The aid provided just those two issues should be provided to our Veterans. They are the ones that kept and keep this country as free as it still is.REPORT COMMENTS

I am sure we could cut some foreign aid or something rather than the benefits promised to myself and other veterans. We took our oaths, most of us deployed multiple times and now you want to further set us up for failure. A lot of people have made career based decisions being in the military to pursue this dream. Now this is the thanks we get? Are we not worth it? Do you not see veterans making good pilots? Thanks for your time.REPORT COMMENTS

As an active duty member of the Air Force I've been planning to get out and pursue flight training as my next career step. I have specifically made career decisions based on the availability of funds for flight training. If I had known that these benefits were going to be cut I could have decided to separate over one year ago and thus been grandfathered into the flight program under ch 33. Instead, I decided to fill a undermanned position in the Air Force, supporting the warfighter and aiding national objectives. To remove this funding for flight training, is to break the trust that I placed in my country to look out for me as I have chosen to serve. If there have been instances of abuse by training schools, seek to correct that than impact veterans that have served. I offer that, at least, any current active duty member be grandfathered into the old flight training payment system and change it for new military members. I say this not just for my own interests, but in the interest of sounds reason, and fairness with the men and women that plan their lives around what benefits have been promised.REPORT COMMENTS

I have completed my military service and retired with 22 years of honorable service, now I would like to be able to use my VA benefits for flight training that was promised me! I have worked hard for what I have, now you are trying to take that away from me well...REPORT COMMENTS

Why do you keep trying to screw with Veterans benefits as well as others instead of taking a pay cut yourself. You have a part time "job" that you do not do, unless you consider the "blame game" and arguing back and forth "work".REPORT COMMENTS

Prior to retiring from the Air Force, I surveyed 100 Airmen concerning their interest is earning an pilot certification. 75% said they were interested. 39% said they would leverage their MGIB benefits. 38% said they would use their pilot training toward an aviation degree program. Paying for flight training isn't a problem, access to schools in in close proximity which they are able to use their education benefits is the problem. Passing HR 475 add an extra obstacle for veteran's passionate about aviation. Additionally, it places an obstacle for family members of veterans who passed their education benefits onto their children. Pilot training is a gateway to STEM careers. HR 475 doesn't help veterans.REPORT COMMENTS

I am active duty military currently and I have spent the past 2 years researching programs and contacting different organizations for information. After this bill was proposed and there was the abuse of aviation programs on the costs of training, all of the programs except for a select few stated they no longer are partnered with a college due to issues with the VA paying for current members in training and also due to this bill. The ones who are still partnered with a college stated that if this bill goes through I will have to cover a large portion of the expenses. This is aggravating due to 2 years of research and closing in on starting my training but the most aggravating is watching my medical benefits get cut and not my Post 9/11 bill being cut. If this passes I will not be able to become a pilot period end of story. I've tried to find ways to work around this bill and after 4months of searching I have found nothing that will allow me to become a pilot. I highly encourage that this bill not be passed as it will end flight training for all those active duty members who expected to have the opportunity available to them upon separation from the military.REPORT COMMENTS

As a veteran wishing to pursue flight training, this is causing delay in my training & financial burden in my life. We veterans get the short end of the deal due to abusive programs. Please allow us to pursue this, once again.REPORT COMMENTS

This is an earned benefit and it facilitates us Veterans with a career after the military. Please deal with the schools that have abused the programs instead of a knee jerk reaction which closes the door on this career path.REPORT COMMENTS
