Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution

Messages Sent So Far
An idea whose time has come For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens had no idea that members of Congress could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they didn't pay into Social Security, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws. The latest is to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform that is being considered...in all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn't seem logical. We do not have an elite that is above the law. I truly don't care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop. This is a good way to do that. It is an idea whose time has come. Have each person contact a minimum of Twenty people on their Address list, in turn ask each of those to do likewise. In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one proposal that really should be passed around. Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution "Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States." I sure wish I could take credit for this but it was sent to me in an e-mail....I support it. I hope you as the lawmakers realize how angry the American people really are. So lets see if you really have our interests at heart and see you put this into law!

Congress has been deceiving the citizens of this country long enough. They deserve no better than the people who elected them. I believe the people should be thought of first and foremost, if you are elected and think different, you should be, and will be replaced.

This is why our representatives are rated lower than an ant crawling around on the ground. They work for us, not for themselves.

It's incredible what Congress gets away with. They should not make laws and exempt themselves. Become millionaires as civil servants. It must end now!

Absolutely they should have the same rights and responsibilities that all American have. Never should a government entity entitle itself. Washington's money schemes, super pacs and lobbyists must be removed for an honest government to prevail.

This proposal is way past due! Our elected officials are "public servants"! They need to serve a limited time then return to being productive members of society! We the people are fed up with the "ELITE" ruling of OUR country!

What arrogance by the politicians to exempt themselves from any law of the land just because they feel themselves somehow special and Obote the voters. Place it on a ballot and see how fast this puppy gets voted in. I'm for placing all laws on all Americans equally.

If the constitution still is in effect and all men are created equal, then why should the people in Washington treated differently than the rest of us. It's about time they got in touch with how the majority of Americans live. We have health insurance that is far less than optimal, we work for 30-40 years or longer before we can think about drawing a pension, if at all and we have to live by the laws they pass, regardless fo how unfair or inane they are. We work 40 plus hours a week and if we are lucky get an occasional vacation that we pays for out of our own pockets and they travel the world at the taxpayers expense. Most Americans care about their fellow man, they only care about power and stuffing their pockets with our money.

This is long past due, and I support it completely! When our founders stated "all men are created equal" there was so mention of "except members of Congress are better and deserve more than the people they are supposed to represent and protect"!
