Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution

Messages Sent So Far
An idea whose time has come For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens had no idea that members of Congress could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they didn't pay into Social Security, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws. The latest is to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform that is being considered...in all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn't seem logical. We do not have an elite that is above the law. I truly don't care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop. This is a good way to do that. It is an idea whose time has come. Have each person contact a minimum of Twenty people on their Address list, in turn ask each of those to do likewise. In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one proposal that really should be passed around. Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution "Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States." I sure wish I could take credit for this but it was sent to me in an e-mail....I support it. I hope you as the lawmakers realize how angry the American people really are. So lets see if you really have our interests at heart and see you put this into law!

We need to call for a Convention of States. A Convention of States can put Terrm Limits on Congress and the Senate and reverse many of these entitlements that these Swamp Dwelling Politicians have voted themselves. I get so tired of hearing them talk about Social Security like it is an entitlement and how they want to cut benefits the whole while they are robbing the money that is in it. They should have to replace all of the money they have stolen from Social Security over the years. Lets DEMAND OUR STATES CALL for a Convention of STATES.

I wish this petition could actually move forward and ultimately pass with the majority vote. Since the government makes these decisions, there is absolutely no way this will ever come to fruition. The haves will never take a loss for the benefit of others.

The proposal of the 28th amendment is great, as long as they don’t use it to infringe on other rights. An example of this, is them altering the Bill of Rights. Taking the peoples rights to speak, defend themselves and families, and due process.

They should only be paid a percentage of their retirement after so many years, similar to what the military currently does.

“However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.” ― George Washington

It is past time that we the people are unequally controlled by laws that only apply to the civilian masses and not equally applied to the politicians that make and pass the laws. I support the 28th amendment proposition and will stand behind all who believe in changing this false, "All men are created equal " government rouse...we are awake, with alert and clear mind. We are awake, to stir up fair and equal change and when we have term limits instilled in to our great country, we will find a whole other type of person wanting to enter the political arena...ones who want to serve their country without expecting special and unequal benifits...like a fire fighter, a teacher, a police officer, a veteran...ones who just do good because it is the right thing to do. Sorry to be so long winded in my statement, but have children and it is our duty to provide a better America for them and so on and so forth.

Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States. I support this amendment and will be watching to see if one such as this is ever put up for vote in the house and senate. If passed and put into law, it would show the citizens of this country that our elected officials do not put themselves above their constituents. I definitely will not hold my breath until an amendment such as this is put into law because I for one believe our elected officials DO believe they are privileged and should have special treatment above and beyond that of ordinary citizens of this great country. Please prove me wrong!
