I have had to watch the ravages of this disease not only affect my niece, but her family and closest friends. Throughout her journey they have all had developed a strength that is awe-inspiring. Remember the last time you got the stomach flu, and it felt like it later forever? Imagine if it really did. That is what SOME of the symptoms of gastroparesis are like. As a sufferer of gastroparesis I think that we deserve an awareness month just as much as any other disease. This disease is rare, debilitating, and as much as we want to many of us can't live normal lives. I may never eat by mouth again as I am fed completely by a j tube. I may never be completely free of medicines to try and dull my pain and other symptoms. My life, just as many other people's, will be forever changed due to this horrific disease and it's time we raise awareness.REPORT COMMENTS

I have been living with this for over 10 years and nothing seems to help it...i have lost weight and cannot eat or keep nutrition at a good point...blood work is always horrible have to have monthly vit b12 and other things to just exist...and thats all i do in life is exist...most days i dont feel like i should be alive but i know i should its just a horrible health problem with no sunshine at the endREPORT COMMENTS

I have been battling this debilitating disease for 2 years, and I am now on 24/7 enteral feeds. I don't even feel like getting out of bed most days. It is awful. I went from a full time working nurse to someone I don't even recognize anymore.REPORT COMMENTS
