Bring back parole, these familys have been apart to long. My cuz iz on elreno with a 20 years. His first child was born when he went in. She will be 4. They shouldnt have done away with it. These men and women who have done a portion of their time deserve parole.Dec 3rd, 2016Betty P. from Anderson, SC writes:
Bring back parole and put families back together. This was never a grand idea to do away with the parole in the first place!REPORT COMMENTS

Bring back Federal Parole for all non violent offenders. You have people in prison for first time non violent offenses doing outrageous time. This should have never stopped in the first place. Way to much corruption in Washington.REPORT COMMENTS

Aug 31st, 2016Someone from Bushnell, IL writes:
I would like to become a force for federal parole and here is why?I was sentenced to a federal term of 20 years to life for 'conspiracy to traffic over 500 gram of methamphetamine' in July 2002. I was an addict but non-violent offender with no history of violence. Due to (2) prior convictions 'during the conspiracy timeline' I was forced to plead guilty to avoid a life sentence although the federal government did NOT have any physical evidence 'only testimony by convicted felons involved in the same conspiracy'. Federal prosecutors told me and my family that they "would bury me" if I did take this to trial. To avoid the life sentence, I accepted the 20 yr term with a Rule 35 attachment that would reduce my sentence a percentage after one year of incarceration for full cooperation?(it was an election year in Illinois). I started my sentence at the Springfield, Missouri Federal Prison/Hospital (low, medium & maximum) where I became an orderly in the cancer unit before accepting a position with the educational department where fellow inmates could complete educational courses to become eligible for Federal Camp. The Rule 35 reduction reduced my sentence 33% in 2005 and with time already served I became eligible for Federal Camp and transferred to the Federal Institution in Terra Haute, Indiana. Almost 400 inmates resided at the Camp where (2) Federal Correctional Officers were the only supervisors on site?which made me think "Federal Parole" is a common sense solution to the Cost of housing 400 inmates at an conservative estimated cost of $20K per inmate per year x 400 = $800,000 just for the Terra Haute Camp. In 2005, I began to fight my case based on 'disparity of sentence' since my co-defendant received 66% Rule 35 reduction and was already back on the street. My appeal was accepted on August 17, 2007 and on October 18, 2007 I won back 68 months of my life based on the biased disparity of sentence. The time off qualified myself for RDAP (Residential Drug Awareness Program) and I was accepted into the program and arrived at RDAP in Texarkana, Texas, May 28, 2008. I completed the program and was released to a Champaign, Illinois halfway house on February 24, 2009. I was employed immediately and completed 4 years (10 years was ordered but I was released early based on my pristine behavior during the supervised release, Jason Hunt/Federal Probation Officer) of Federal Supervised Release before my full release was granted in March 2013. I am now the senior sales representative for a national motor sports manufacturing company based in Bushnell, Illinois. I have not any run-ins with the law since my release?.**What was obvious to this college graduate was?..the Federal Camp System is a waste of time & money because everyone there could be doing what I am doing now?working everyday, taking care of my family, paying taxes and being an overall solid American. I believe the Federal System has become to much of a "Business" and un-doing it now would not beREPORT COMMENTS
