I've recently started dealing with gastroparesis, and I have went from weighing 156 pounds to 134 pounds in a too week period. I can't eat anything and when I do I continue to vomit, can't sleep properly or lay a certain way do too the pain. I work for the post office and this is not working in my favor at 39 years old with a daughter in college and a 7 year old in second grade , my family is taking care of me sometimes I feel like ima beat this and then there are times when I feel like God just take me so I won't have any more pain. -

I was diagnosed with gastroparesis at the age of 25. at first it wasnt too bad, I made some changes in my diet and took my prescribed meds it helped a lot. now my condition has worsened I wake up every day miserable. the problems I had every now and then 2 years ago are reoccurring daily and I literally am losing my will to keep fighting. theres times I'll go 2-3 days without eating just because I dont want to deal with the pain. my work hours have fell off I now average 30 hours a week instead of my required 40 and the cost to continue attempting to fix this condition is getting beyond reach for me. I feel like there should be financial options for people who deal with this condition. no one understands how difficult it is to live like this until they walk in the shoes of someone who does.REPORT COMMENTS

I have no energy and suffer from low potassium levels. Please consider this issues. Not sure how much longer I can make it.REPORT COMMENTS

My name is Charles Quinlivan and I was diagnosed with gastroparesis in May of 2017. Before being diagnosed I was able to work and enjoy my life. Now it’s a struggle to get out of bed. I have been fighting disability for a year now and have been denied 3 times. I was released from my job due to missing to much work and lack of performance. All this is due to my illness, Gastroparesis. I really need this disability. My wife is now the soul provider and I am now so far behind in child support I may end up in jail. I have tried my hardest to do everything the right way and now have absolutely nothing to show for it. Please help get SSA to recognize gastroparesis as a disability so other people do not have to struggle like I have.REPORT COMMENTS

I was diagnosed with Gastroparesis 9 years ago, my health is failing me and I have no control! Being sick with horrible pain, nausea and vomiting is so unfair! I went to the ER due to my feeding tube coming out, my husband put it back in! I was called a drug seeker and that’s not the truth! These doctors have no clue of the amount of suffering we go through! I can work, I was fired from my job after 10 years for being sick! I’ve applied for disability in August 2017! By the time I’m approved, I made be dead from starvation! I have a feeding tube put in my stomach! Please help us! I need my disability! Please help us and recognize this disease will end in death! Some days I wake up wondering if life is worth living if it has to be lived like this. This disease is debilitating, my quality of life is gone. I can’t do anything I used to do. I can’t enjoy a dinner out with friends or family. I missed out on most of my sisters wedding. Help us. Be aware. Raise awareness. Find a cure. We’re starving for a cure.REPORT COMMENTS

I just recently got diagnosed with Gastroparesis, thia is not something we just make up to be ill or even have a reason not to work. Alot of ppl have very normal life styles working able to be out with friends. All these things changes within months. I can still eat food for now but not sure for how long because it hurts like crazy to even drink water at times. I am also a post gastric bypass patient and post kidney transplant patient. The things we go through on a day to day basis with our illnesses is scary and painful. Please help us get this bill pass for families all over the world. This can be one of your family remembers then what? Help usREPORT COMMENTS

My daughter literally vomits after every meal, snack, even a drink of water. This has been going on since December 9, 2017. She finally got so weak and had lost 60 pound that her husband and I took her to Duke Hospital because we were afraid she may die. That was on May6, 2018. She was given this horrible diagnosis of gastroparesis. She is on medication but it hasn’t been much help. She has followed the dietary restrictions to the letter. As a mother. I feel helpless.REPORT COMMENTS

I live with severe gastroparesis and it has greatly impacted my life. I am tube fed as I cannot get enough nutrition on my own anymore. It has caused Malnourishment and severe dehydration and I have been on TPN (IV nutrition). I developed immunodeficiency and gastroparesis caused a cascade effect that has impacted the rest of my digestive tract which caused me to loose too much weight. Some cases are mild and some are life threatening. This should be recognized as a disability as it greatly impacts our daily lives and makes it hard for many of us to even get out of bed.REPORT COMMENTS
