I almost died with the birth of my 3rd child due to placenta acreta. I received nine blood transfusions, had a hysterectomy, and woke up in intensive care. I am blessed that I had an incredible team of doctors. It is not acceptable that there are not standard protocols in this country to prepare for maternal pregnancy emergencies and not to collect this information on death certificates. Children need their mothers. I am forever grateful that I survived and have had the joy of seeing my children grow. My son turns nine this week.

I can't believe that this is happening in the United States of America!!!!!! We must fix this problem. These strong, physically tough mothers deserve to be treated with the best of everything we have in the medical field!!!!! Their children and husbands NEED THEM!!! I couldn't imagine raising my children withoutmy loving wife. Watching het give birth to our 3 children two of which are twins, gave me a new respect for the physical toughness of mothers!! It's a tough task to carry and deliver a baby and their bodies take a very hard beating doing so therefore they should be checked much more thoroughly afterwards. My wife was back home less than 48 hrs.after giving birth both times!!! Save our mothers! !!!!!!!!! -

During the birth of my second child, my wife was a "near miss" I wish this article would have bee written a number of years ago...who knows how many "near misses" or even deaths...could have been prevented!
