Although I agree statistics need to be reported, I think more importantly the issue to focus on is protocol for delivery that would sustain a mother's life. Women ASK to deliver at a hospital that has this in place and ask the hospital admi istration for a copy of their policy. As an obstetric RN, I feel every state should be mandated to report maternal deaths and that every state should have standard protocols in place based on evidence based practice for obstetric emergencies. From my experience, hospitals and doctors vary from place to place and sometimes emergencies are dealt with too late resulting in more complications for the mother. America needs to put a stop to this. How many more mothers need to die before action is taken.REPORT COMMENTS

Needs to law. Everything needs to be done to ensure the mother's life is protected. She should be examined daily and tests ran daily to make sure she is not having any medical issues or bleeding. Furthermore, mother's need to be kept in the hospital for a week to ensure she is actually healing correctly and if not the medical issues can be caught in time and immediately taken care of.REPORT COMMENTS

I value my life and want to be the one who cares for my child not someone else, because I live in a nation where we don't want to do the research and educate ourselves on what we she do in these incidents.
