I have been a caretaker for a 15 year old deaf and blind girl. She has the sweetest heart. Her mom told me that her and the family tried to teach their daughter a few signs, but the school didn't reinforce that learning. The school put her with all the autistic kids rather than with the deaf kids. So the regular spED teachers didn't know sign, so becca(their daughter) hasn't learned as much as she could. Beccas is very bright and receives a lot of therapy but if the school teachers would have taught her some sign becca could communicate better.REPORT COMMENTS
