I support this to honor the memory of my beloved daughter, Tracey (3/29/71 - 9/13/2003). I had to actually retire from my job during her illness & death. I definitely could not have performed my job responsibilities in a productive way during this difficult time of loss.Feb 13th, 2011Someone from Ellison Bay, WI signed.

It takes a lifetime to get over the death of a child, how can an employer expect someone to come back after only three days because they feel that their job is threatened if they don't.REPORT COMMENTS

Their is no greater loss than that of a Child. I believe if an employer has lost a child of his own he or she would be more sympathetic to their employees. I support the Farley-Kluger Amendment to the Family Medical Leave Act of 1993.REPORT COMMENTS

This is in memory of my lovely daughter AMANDA NICOLE LUJAN 1991-1996 I believe that every parent either man or women need time to absored the lost of a childand grieve the way they feel comfortable. and not have more worries or stress added along with it. by grieving parent taking time off can not making hasty descions . at this time of support can also save their relationship and/or marriage. losing a child is stressful enough that can take a toll on your relationship/marriage. iam talking from experience on losing my daughter and fiancee. amanda nicole lujan in our hearts forever 91-96REPORT COMMENTS

A parent hould be able to grieve the loss of a child tragic loss or terminally ill without worrying about lossing their jobs. Isn't it better for everyone if the grieveing parent returns to work after they have had some time to process and grieve the loss of a child instead of returning out of fear of lossing their jobs; it is a win-win situation.REPORT COMMENTS

I missed many weeks of work after the death of my son. In the years following his death I have come to meet many other parents just like me. It takes many weeks to even begin to function in any sort of "normal" way. Research studies have documented that grief over the loss of a child is more severe when compared to grief over other losses. I believe an amendment to include parents of deceased children is a very reasonable request and should be adopted.REPORT COMMENTS

As a bereaved mother and one who needed the additional time off (12 weeks) I wholeheartedly support this petition and its intent. I was blessed to have a supportive dean who helped request and supported my fight and I was granted this type of support. Without it I was unable to function in my normal duties for a while. It provided a great opportunity for strengthening and healing following the suddend death of my daughter. This is desperately needed.REPORT COMMENTS
