I am a parent who has lost a child, and I can tell you that it is the worst possible phycological pain you can endere. It upsets me to think that some one would not have compassion for some one who has lost a child. It is like loosing a limb, you have to learn how to live life without it. and trust me it isnt easy.

I have been working as a labor and delivery nurse for 30 years and I am very involved with our bereaved families. Dads definitly deserve to take some time to grieve after he death of their child.

I lost my son 1 1/2 years ago. He was 24 at the time and I worked full time. I was given 3 days to "get over it". Needless to say, I lost my job. I was able to resume work in about 6 weeks, mainly due to financial needs. The law needs to be changed. The loss of your child is the worst thing that could ever happen.

The death of a child is a living HELL! I don't know how I could have gone back to work in 2-3 days. Luckily, my employer was very kind but I believe this bill should be passed. I would even be for a short term disability leave because you are literally disabled after losing a child!

Some say that the death of a child is a parents worst nightmare. They are wrong. You wake up from a nightmare and realize that it was a bad dream. The death of a child is a living hell.

After the death of my oldest son, my employer allowed me to take an additional week of sick leave. Yet I have since learned that many employers do not allow anything more than what is mandated. Grieving the loss of a child is a serious health condition, and a forever life condition. Under the current system a grieving parent would need another medical diagnosis to enable them time and resources. Isn't it common sense that a bereaved parent may not be ready to resume work after 2-3 days? Please support ammending this bill.

After the death of my son 10 years ago, I was unable to return to work and perform my duties. Every bit of energy that I had left in my body was used to perform simple tasks like getting dressed or cleaning house. I had a teenage daughter to raise as well which was not an easy one. Fortunately, I was self-employed and had the choice of not dealing with business associates. I hired someone to tend to my duties. We have the family leave act for the birth of a child, why not extend that to the loss of a child that is completely debilitating?

My son was murdered . II've been fighting for justice. for seven painful years. It was a police cover up. Because the man who murdered my son was a retired police officer and he is now a U S Marshall. Justice for Tom. If you know of anyone that can help me. Please let me know. Thank You.

As a working mother who recently lost my 22 year old son, I whole heartedly agree that a parent who loses a child cannot and should not be expected to return to work within the usual allotted time for bereavement leave. Losing a child is so completely devastating that it was impossible to focus. My workplace was not the place I needed to be. I needed to be home, seeking help and comfort from people who could provide the support I needed. This is a very sensible bill and, if passed, will allow parents the time they need to get their emotions on an even footing so they can begin to be productive in their workplace.

Please show compassion for all the grieving parents in this country and approve the modication to the FMLA of 1993. My 42 year old daughter was murdered in August 2008, and I returned to work in less than two weeks after her death. Help those of us who have had to endure this unbearable pain.
