There are NCAA colleges that offer scholarships for cheer. The only thing that these hard working athletes need is the attention of sports trainers. When I was in college, I was injured and needed to get medical attention from a trainer and by law he couldn't even give me ice. That is not fair to a activity that is under the direction of athletic departments and have to abide by the same rules and regulations but can't get the same attention as the rest of the activities. I suggest they look up the definition of sport and athlete.Dec 1st, 2013Someone from Las Vegas, NV signed.

Until it becomes a sport it will continue to be unregulated and unsafeREPORT COMMENTS

If cheerleading isn't a sport then nothing else is. Cheerleading takes just as much skill, athleticism, and practice as football and we do it without helmets or padding!!REPORT COMMENTS

It is so unfair that our town will bus Varsity, JV, and Freshman boys football teams to away games, but not fund buses for JV cheerleaders to cheer at away games.REPORT COMMENTS

Anyone who doesnt believe that varsity is a Monopoly probably benefits from them directly or indirectly. They are profiteering monsters who have taken an americana inspired SPORT and taken their product overseas when the margins can clearly be support to produce the clothing in the US. They offer "rebates" (nice word for a kickback) to all star gyms that buy uniforms from them and the parents don't even know that these gyms are getting money back up to 20% to pocket, They sue just about anyone who tries to compete against them because they have deep pockets and they know that litigation is expensive and thier upstart competitions cannot afford it. I would even dare say they have judges in their pockets as most of their lawsuits are in tennessee. MONOPOLY if YOU CAN'T SEE IT THEN YOU ARE FRIGGIN BLIND AS A BAT.REPORT COMMENTS

It takes years to develop the skills for cheerleading. If i really wanted to i could go run a 400m or play football, but if youre not a cheerleader you wont be able to develop even the simplest of skills unless you drop everything and commit to that for months on end. Please make it a sport! Cause it is.(:REPORT COMMENTS

It is just as competitive and athletic as any other sport. The ONLY reason it is denied as a certified sport is because it's female dominated and has the predessor of being all pom poms and ponytails. It isn't. Congress needs to attend a competition and see how hard these kids work.REPORT COMMENTS

I have been a cheerleader going on 9 years now. I have had so many different injuries that I cannot even keep count; some of which that I never even reported to my doctor. Cheerleading gets thrown under the radar which is not right at all. It is far more dangerous than any other sport. It should definitely be considered a sport.REPORT COMMENTS
