I believe an all natural alternative to medicine such cannabis would be better for the body. I am bipolar and it is one of the few things that calms my mind of so many thoughts at once.

Also, 60% of Americans now support legalization. This number continues to grow. If MJ ran for president she would win in a landslide! All jokes aside, you never had the Constitutional authority to ban her in the first place. Stop treating your constituents like children.

29 states have it legalized, well the other 21 need to accept cannabis as a form of medication an not see it as a drug. As it's a plant not a chemically engineered drug like what company's like Pfizer, Bayer, GSK, stamp out everyday! I'm sick of the bull that has spread across the USA telling citizens weed is a drug it's bad for you. Meth, Cocaine, Flakka, Heroin, LSD are all drugs. I'll give you an example : I was ina hospital bed for 2 days, with oxygen tube in my nose & intravenous in my arm because i blacked out. This stuff called Lamotrigine they put me on has more side effects than weed alone. Just accept the fact pot heads, cannabis users are right an your all wrong. Willie Nelson is still alive an he's been smoking weed for 30+ years, Snoop Dogg, Seth Rogen, Miley Cyrus, Whoopi Goldberg, Bill Maher, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, George Bush, Brad Pit, Chris Brown, Rihanna, Mathew McConaughey, James, Franco, Morgan Freeman, Jenifer Aniston, Tommy Chong, Doug Benson, Charlize Theron, Zach Galifianakis, Justin Timber Lake, Harrison Ford, Joe Rogan, Woody Harrelson, Kevin Smith, Cameron Diaz, Paul McCartney, Dave Chappelle, Ron White all these Celebs smoke weed an neither have any of them have died from it. Not only would legalizing Cannabis, Weed bring in Tax Revenue, it would allow for states like Nebraska in it's $200,000,000 debt to thrive from the Tax Revenue an use it to improve the cities an State which has the worst over spending habit ever. There's more useless crap going up in Nebraska as well as the debt. If weed was legal in all 50 states these states could use that tax revenue to fix its problems, like roads, buildings, Colleges, hotels, hospitals, state buildings, court houses, an other problems that currently have them spending more money than they really have. Legalizing it would create jobs in America, more American jobs less Made in China crap. Trump is all for making American Jobs, but this group of people who just don't really care about America are holding back thousands if not millions of jobs that would come with legalization of Cannabis or Weed. I don't agree with the one choice to treat problems, an i'm talking about prescription drugs, I want the ability to chose how i treat my problems with a natural plant instead of being told repeatedly by all these doctor's " just take this pill ". I've got a question for congress: If your child or children had a medical condition that was treatable with Cannabis or prescription drugs which would you chose ? Knowing the prescription drugs cause other problems to your child's health an maybe even death due to the cocktail of drugs your child has been given, & or switched to because the 1st one wasn't working. Would you rather see your child or children laying in a hospital bed, with a breathing tube down their throats, Intravenous in their arms keeping them alive or see your child or children alive so you can see them grow up. I bet most if not all of you would much rather see your child or children alive rather than watching them die slowly in a hospital bed with breathing tubes, & intravenous in their arms. An all of the hospital bills, breathing tubes, intravenous in their arms, could be completely avoided by a simple plant called weed. Citizens of the USA have problems an having only one choice to treat their problems is not fare, nor is it right. Everyone should have the right to chose how to treat their problems without someone chiming in on their personal life

Cannabis: A Stone Age History There are millions that use plants for medicinal purposes. I know it as holistic medicine. I also recognize it as Chinese Medicine. China is one of the oldest known civilizations with a recorded history (Drug Library 2017). India may go back further, yet only recently have some of its mythological cities been discovered to be real, lying under a hundred feet of water. Their claims date more than 10, 000 years ago (Drug Library 2017). Their claims go further back than the oldest known civilizations in the Fertile Crescent, the Sumerians. Hebrews, Syrians, Persians, Egyptians, Assyrians, Babylonians, all owe their existence to the Sumerians, yet Chinese and Indian traditions say they are older than the Sumerian traditions. Sumerians lived around 4000 BCE (AHE 2017). Caffeine in coffee dates back to the Indian tradition Materia Medica is consumed to promote energy (Dharmananda 2003). The aspirin consumed by millions everyday was first harvested from the Willow tree, a cure for the common headache (Julian 2017). Yet, there is something that has been around even longer: wheat. It has been around more than 10, 000 years. What does wheat do for us? It fights heart disease, stroke, cancer, and type-II diabetes (OIS 2017). Yet, none of these plants have the benefits and uses of cannabis. You see, cannabis fights seizures, in infants and children. It makes the cancer patient capable of consuming food with a drug called Marinol, HIV and AIDS patients included. Cesamet is another drug that is used to treat cancer patients for nausea, another use of Marinol. We also should add glaucoma, muscle spasms, severe pain, wasting disease. Breast cancer is the newest of the treatments to add to that older list (Alchimia 2001). Pharmacology is now turning its focus on the Endocannabinoid System (NCBI 2006). “For thousands of years, until 1883, hemp was the world’s largest agricultural crop, from which the majority of fiber, fabric, soap, lighting oil, paper, incense, and medicines were produced. In addition, it was a primary source of essential food oil and protein for humans and animals. Hemp seeds contain all the essential amino acids necessary for health. The oil from hemp seeds has the highest percentage of essential fatty acids and the lowest percentage of saturated fats. (DYK 2017)” These are the medical reasons for legalization of cannabis sativa, along with any other version from the cannabinaceae family, that has fallen prey to the guiles of government over-reach. We know that cannabis has been used by humans for more than 12, 000 years, longer than wheat by several thousand years (Drug Library 2017). The Chinese are the oldest known civilization to cultivate the cannabis plant. These discovers in China are suffice to say, “man has cultivated hemp since the dawn of history (Drug Library 2017).” Research has shown that our bodies have receptors specifically for this plant. The endocannabinoid system is an actual system in the human body (Project CBD 2017). Evolution does not just create a system for no reason at all. Many of these receptors for cannabinoids have been found in immune cells, the clear majority are found in the brain (NCBI 2017). This plant has uses all over the human system, both ecological, and societal. This means there is more to cannabis than the myths perpetrated by a government whom have seceded too much power to themselves, while usurping it from the people. This plant feeds our immune system, something necessary for activation. This is but one among many cannabinoid-receptor functions in the body (NCBI 2017). It should not be illegal. Our bodies have evolved to use this plant in more ways than just a psychedelic high. It’s use goes back to stone age times, times before recorded history, found in the staples, long since buried. Its benefits hidden for more than 234 years now. Outlawed by government, though it was in uses since the dawn of civilization. Biodiversity has a role to play in the future of sustainability. Tropical forests are disappearing, hot spots are in grave danger the earth over. This global problem may be more dire than global warming itself (SimBio 2017). There have been long cycles on an earth where no ice existed. Extinction periods are in the record. Extinction is the key word. We can save species. We can breed them, and pollinate them. We can start in the most crucial areas. The focus of dollars on these hots spots makes sense. Preserving the habitats with the most species merit first place in the conservationism. The species diversity is the number one priority in any effort of preservation. How would one start to conserve these areas? Marijuana may be the right answer to preserve biodiversity, cultivating human need while maintaining the fauna and flora. A cycle of cold will come as sure as a cycle of heat, but because we are different from all other animals, because I can sit here and say this to you, and you understand, like no other animal. This means each of us can act to increase biodiversity, by saving biodiversity. Legalize Hemp. Hot Spot Zones account for little less than 3% of total land mass containing animal life. Biodiversity, then is extremely important (SimBio 2017). Everything should be done to conserve it. Unfortunately, in areas like Madagascar, whole forests are being cleared to make way for increasing agriculture and livelihoods. Cultivation of marijuana instead of other crops may be a solution. It would provide a higher dollar yield. An output, more than four times the pulp of wood. Every part of the plant has a use. The seeds make biofuel, like ethanol and biodiesel. The seeds make bird seed and cattle food. The fibers are used in cement, in particle board, also replaces 2x4’s and other types of wood. It replaces many different forms of fossil fuels, including plastics. The world should go back and revisit cannabis. It used to be our paper and food. It is not our enemy. This may even stem the tide of biopiracy. Marijuana must be legalized today. Marijuana has local and international appeal as a sustainable future. The federal legalization of recreational and medical marijuana has the potential to create positive change for the United States, such as job creation and more money from taxation for state and federal government. The taxation could help fund important issues that do not currently have enough funding such as healthcare, SSI, Medicare and Medicaid issues. The release of burden from the taxpayer and government would be large as long as it is not an over regulated industry because then it would defeat the purpose of wealth creation. I do not see that it would be a negative impact on tabacco or alcohol industry either, if anything, I feel it would increase profits to these industries, especially in large cities, it would also leave room in prisons for dangerous and violent individuals who really do pose a threat to the safety and wellbeing of United States citizens as well as release the tax burdon to keep individuals in jails and prisons who are not a danger to society. The benefits by far outweigh the cons, please federally legalize Marijauna.

Your opinion is heavily weighted. The dui part is a huge disconnect from reality tho. There is no way to measure current usage on an individual therefore one can not be charged for smoking. What if that individual smoked 3 hours ago and because his eyes are red he's under the influence of pot. Very easy thing to incinuate.

7gs a month? Let's say i have glaucoma and I smoke 2 or 3 times a day, not a lot but a little, 2 times 7 is 14 time's in a week is how much I would smoke, 4 weeks on a month and that's 56 times in a month and let's say you're smoking .2 grams every time you smoke(which is unrealistic) you would need 11 grams roughly, and that's for someone with a moderate condition, and really a dui? Have you never toked and cruised? Quit being a cop bro
