Tattoos have zero effect on performance. The current policy is discriminatory.

They tell employers not to discriminate over tattoos, time for the government to lead by example.

The latest "tattoo policy" was a bad idea to start with. Marines, and Sailors, used to be feared in some parts of the world by their white rolled sleeves and tattoos. The tattoo policy should be reversed to what it used to be. "No hands, neck, head tattoos etc." Even the Army has taken a step back on the stringent tattoo policy they implemented. We should not be purging some of nation's most battle hardened warriors because of a tattoo often signifying their dedication of service, love of their family, or memorializing brothers they lost in battle.

The Marine Corps tattoo policy are turning away Marines who are trying to reenlist. I believe the tattoo policy should be looked over, tattoos are our brotherhood and comraderie.

My husband wanted to be a life long Marine. He volunteered for recruiting duty, missing the birth of our daughter, and was incredibly succesful. He receives multiple awards. He also has two combat deployments under his belt. Now he's being forced out because of a tattoo of an angel with our daughters name, that his hand just doesn't cover. Why are forcing out great marines who want to stay in?

Follow the Army's standard for tattoos. Marines and prospects deserve benefit of the doubt.

I've been wanting to join the Marine Corps for the past 5 years but doubts and fears got in my way. As I've gotten older and more confident in myself I am no longer afraid. I have a tattoo of roses on my wrist that go into my forearm and I just think it's silly that I can't join because of this. I have no tattoos on my hands, neck or face. Tattoos are an awesome piece and several men and woman who are serving have tattoos. I think we should be able to join regardless of our tattoos as long as we don't have any gang related tattoos. I love my tattoos and I love the Marine Corps. Relax with the tattoo policy, please so I can become a Marine.

I'm a full time firefighter/paramedic who wants to serve my country as a Marine Corps reservist but have I been denied due to my fire edit related tattoos that they consider a half sleeve that sits 3inches above my elbow. This is not american to deny a US citizen if his right to serve his country and one that's dad was critically injured in rahmadi Iraq. Stand up America and let me serve !

Some regulations are needed. Obviously tattoos on the head, face, or hands should be banned. However, i have my ribs, chest, and back tattooed and i feel that i shouldn't be forced to NOT get any tattoos on my arms. If it isn't gang related or offensive then it shouldn't be a problem.

No matter how what type of tattoos including on the neck, hands, and face; a clean record, you should be able to serve no matter what. America need it's people. Discriminating the color of the new American moderation skin, that should not be allowed.

I have tried 3 times since 2013 to get in, but they won't let me due to 1/2" tattoo above my c7 vertebrae. Since being denied multiple occasions and going to great lengths to acheive this goal, I have gotten a half sleeve. My marine friend says they're getting a new commandant and he's changing it. I can't wait!

All I want to do with my life is become a united states marine and serve with the best. I passed my asvab have some college credits and am in great physical condition. Yet my tattoos have prevented me from fulfilling my dreams as a marine. I have spent over 4000 dollars in removals and not even half way done just so I can hope one day they will be gone and I can fulfill my dreams and be accepted since im being discriminated over a tattoo. Pray something changes because if I don't get my waiver in there going to miss out on someone who would have made a great marine.

I am a young man who wants nothing more than to join in the ranks of the USMC. But my body art prohibits me. The artistic representations of my life I wear on my skin will never hinder my ability to perform any duty or serve my country to the best of my abilities. A tattoo does not change who a person is or what they are capable of, so why are they discriminated against ? You would never know I was tattooed under a dress uniform and in battle I'm sure the tattoos would be the least of anyone's worries. Please revoke this policy so young men and women who wish to make more of themselves with a military career can do so.

If we are to all be equal, then someone with or without tattoos shouldn't be looked at any different. This tattoo policy needs to be thrown out.

Restricting reenlistment over tattoos that can be covered by uniform isn't right. If some one wants to serve their country, a tattoo should not be what stands in their way.
