How can you allow trans gender members but be so restrictive on tattoos? How does cutting off your genitalia make one a better warfighter while having your child's name tattooed on your forearm or a memorial art piece done for the brothers you lost in Afghanistan makes you non-combat effective???

to whom it may concern, grandfathered means grandfathered... do the right thing by those who lay their lives on the line. let those with documented grandfathered tats be just that, grandfathered. thank you

Marines have very limited ways of expressing themselves. Tattoos are one of the biggest ways, in the military or not, to express yourself. We preach Esprit de Corps, but if we dont let Marines get tattoos we take a huge chunk of their ability to do that away. Some of the most disgruntled Marines I've ever met have EGA tattoos because deep down they really do appreciate what the Corps has given them. Tattoos are a way for Marines and servicemen to express themselves.

Marines who are grandfathered should not have their opportunities taken away.
