All 083's no matter who you work for should have the same retirement and pay. All 083's have the same arrest authority. Doesn't matter if you work for the Capital Police or Uniformed Secret Service or the Department of Veteran Affairs. If you're an 083 it should be the same across the board.REPORT COMMENTS

The wording of the job description for GS-0083-xx states enforcing the law and law enforcement duties as primary function. Then the next paragraph will state how "this is not a law enforcement job" for pay/retirement status. Either we are police and need to be paid for it, or we aren't and stop putting 0083 officers in the line of duty.REPORT COMMENTS

I personally think that all 0083 and 0085 should be covered. I have transferred around a few times in my federal career. I started as an 0085, and then was a 0007 with the Bureau of Prisons and now I am a 0083. What is just discussing is I was covered under 6-C with the BOP and so was every office secretary and other line staff office possession in the building. 85% of the people employed with the BOP have no business in law enforcement. If the Government is willing to cover secretaries, cooks, warehouse workers and other line staff then they need to cover all 0083 and 0085 officers in this country. The Bureau of Prisons has WG workers who get the 6-C retirement also. So with that being said if congress does not want to give us the 6-C coverage then they should pull it from all DOJ secretariesREPORT COMMENTS
