there is an animal shelter in st joseph mo that needs shut down as well!! They label themselves as a no kill shelter but they are constantly euthanizing the animals before they even have a chance to get adopted. My beautiful sweet cat ended up here by mistake & i tried to get her back. there was nothing wrong with her at all. they had me fill out an adoption form & said it would be about a month till i could her but they euthanized her the day after i tried to get her back!!! They false advertise & lie!!!! And I know im not the only one they have done this to!!! -

Animals are being killed for the dumbest reasons and the excuses used to kill lives is ridiculous. Abortion laws are being covered far and wide why is it any different for us to be able to kill an animal that is born and been alive for years or even months? You wouldn't kill a newborn or a 3 month old why is it ok to kill baby animals. It's sick and sedistic.REPORT COMMENTS

I have recently adopted my very beautiful and energetic puppy from a lovely organization called TRACS. Now TRACS has been adopting dogs from kill shelters for a while and that is where my baby girl came from. She came from a kill shelter in California and I have done some research that suggests that my puppy has siblings some where probably in that same kill shelter. It hurts my heart knowing that there are some animals that don't get the chance to get adopted out or transferred to another shelter to get adopted out. What is wrong with our society? We call ourselves thankful for being in the United States and many talk about how amazing we are, but after being informed and seeing this for myself I have taken a different view on our society. I use to be proud, but now I just see that they have let us down because we are not caring for animals that don't get a chance to be cared for. Don't they get a voice too? Shouldn't they be heard? Some one has to speak for these poor, unfortunate animals that don't even know what they did wrong besides just by being alive. This is wrong. We need to make a stand and show that we care for everyone in the United States either them white, black, latino, asian, or animal. I don't see the difference and neither should anyone else. There must be boundaries set for when being a director of animal control. They cannot be allowed to make their own laws, and certainly not be allowed to continue the abuse factors. All GOD's creatures deserve another chance, especially when entering animal "shelters". We must ask local, state and federal employees to actually govern these places. I agree they need shut down or turned into a no-kill shelters. They would need new employees and a better managed staff. They would need someone to make unannounced inspections to make sure they follow the rules. If not they will get fired on the spot.REPORT COMMENTS

This should not be allowed to happen. Often times many shelters are not in it for the right reasons and have management that have no business being in animal care. Some shelters actually kill when rescue is on the way and if there is a computer problem and animals are not seen or posted they are killed anyway. Why is this continued to be acceptable? These helpless little things don't live long. They are so smart and love more than a human ever could. They do the unthinkable! They get killed because they are seen as nothing... I am only 19 and I have promise myself I will do whatever I can to save these beautiful animals throughout my life!! You think it's okay to keep infants that parents drop off to abandon alive in shelters but it's not worth it for these innocent creatures who don't ask to be breed then dummbed in a garbage to die a brutal death!
