I was a Project Manager for the University of Maryland's LEAFHouse entry for the 2007 Solar Decathlon. Besides it most likely being included as one of the most amazing projects in my lifetime, it's prominence on the Mall symbolically conveys to the world the importance of innovative and new alternative energy solutions to the United States' government and citizens. Removing the Solar Decathlon from the Mall is a direct dismissal of how this country values innovation and entrepreneurship. Please correct this mistake and keep it on the Mall!Feb 18th, 2011Someone from Washington, DC signed.

What kind of a message is being sent by moving this away from such a public realm? Keep it where it is supposed to be.REPORT COMMENTS

The student teams that have been hard at work for the last year have already made significant design moves for their homes to be sited on the National Mall in response to the specific solar orientation and microclimate factors. To change the location now would require expensive and drastic last minute changes. As well it would undermine the public commitment of the Obama Administration to energy efficiency, sustainable building practices, and environmental responsibility. On behalf of the American Institute of Architecture Students, and the 30,000 students of architecture we represent, as well as our Chapters participating in this year's event, the Solar Decathlon must remain on the National Mall. Hi, this is a real shame to move such a successful, cutting edge event that encourages green technology and innovation--off of the Mall. It is such a good example of what I think Obama stands for--pushing forward new possibilities and sustainable ones plus encouraging new industry, science, and smart students to pursue their dreams. Not sure what happened here! Please change your mind Obama or direct your staff to reinstate this event on the National Mall. It is an important visible location to have this dialog.REPORT COMMENTS
