I am instructing my elected officials, and the President of the United States, to keep hands off of my Social Security and Medicare benefits that I have paid for out of every paycheck for decades. They are not "entitlements", we paid for them!REPORT COMMENTS

Paul Ryan, et al: Do not touch Medicare or Social Security. My only monthly income is from Social Security: $957; I will turn 65 next May and will start receiving Medicare. My monthly expenses: $638 Medicare Part B premium (2017 new enrollment): $134 Humana/Walmart Rx plan (Medicare Part D) for 5 prescriptions for pre-existing heart disease. $17 Total monthly expenses: $789 That leaves: $168 per month in discretionary income for all emergencies, clothes, travel, gifts, entertainment. I am willing to live with this. Could you?REPORT COMMENTS

You can't take away social security and still keep your benefits as a member of the US government. At the same time as we are helping the rich we want to rob those that have barely enough to live on. I have paid in to the fund and I want a return for my investment. Please do the right thing and fund social security, it was implemented for a reason and it's deplorable and unpopular to cut funding for both Social Security and Medicare programs. If you DO want to cut it, cut your own benefits first. You can also just cut Medicare and implement free healthcare, that's a way to fix it. But the burden is already high while corporations pay no tax and use over-seas labor benefiting companies in India and China. Help the people of the US, help us with Education, and basic social services. We are falling behind the rest of the world to enrich .01% of the population. Make your constitutes your priority and stop treating us like your enemy. We are just like you, working hard, loving this country and doing our best to make this society better.REPORT COMMENTS

Social Security was started as a means to supplement income. The money belongs to the American Public of retirement age. It was intended only for that - not to supplement the government and needs to have a "HANDS OFF" tag attached to it. Do not "borrow" it or use it for anything except for what it was intended!REPORT COMMENTS

A little graphic but tells it like it is! Alan Simpson, the Senator from Wyoming calls senior citizens the Greediest Generation as he compared "Social Security " to a Milk Cow with 310 million teats. Here's a response in a letter from fromMontana ... I think she is a little ticked off! She also tells it like it is! "Hey Alan, let's get a few things straight!!! 1. As a career politician, you have been on the public dole (tit) for FIFTY YEARS. 2. I have been paying Social Security taxes for 48 YEARS (since I was 15 years old. I am now 63). 3. My Social Security payments, and those of millions of other Americans, were safely tucked away in an interest bearing account for decades until you political pukes decided to raid the account and give OUR money to a bunch of zero losers in return for votes, thus bankrupting the system and turning Social Security into a Ponzi scheme that would make Bernie Madoff proud. 4. Recently, just like Lucy & Charlie Brown, you and "your ilk" pulled the proverbial football away from millions of American seniors nearing retirement and moved the goalposts for full retirement from age 65 to age, 67. NOW, you and your "shill commission" are proposing to move the goalposts YET Again. 5. I, and millions of other Americans, have been paying into Medicare from > Day One, and now "you morons" propose to change the rules of the game. Why? > Because "you i" mismanaged other parts of the economy to such an extent that you need to steal our money from Medicare to pay the bills. > > 6. I, and millions of other Americans, have been paying income taxes our entire lives, and now you propose to increase our taxes yet again. Why? Because you "incompetent people" spent our money so profligately that you just kept on spending even after you ran out of money. Now, you come to the American taxpayers and say you need more to pay off YOUR debt. To add insult to injury, you label us "greedy" for calling "bull***t" to your incompetence. > Well, Captain ********, I have a few questions for YOU: 1. How much money have you earned from the American taxpayers during your pathetic 50-year political career? 2. At what age did you retire from your pathetic political career, and how much are you receiving in annual retirement benefits from the American taxpayers? 3. How much do you pay for YOUR government provided health insurance? 4. What cuts in YOUR retirement and healthcare benefits are you proposing in your disgusting deficit reduction proposal, or as usual, have you exempted yourself and your political cronies? It is you, Captain Bull**it, and your political co-conspirators called Congress who are the "greedy" ones. It is you and your fellow thieves who have bankrupted America and stolen the American dream from millions of loyal, patriotic taxpayers. And for what? Votes and your job and retirement security at our expense. > That's right, sir. You and yours have bankrupted America for the sole purpose of advanciREPORT COMMENTS
